Perhaps, if the book used the n-word once or twice to refer to Jim it wouldn&#039;t be so controversial, but to use nigger over 200 times throughout the book.  It&#039;s like Mark Twain was trying to beat the reader over the head with its usage.  Maybe the book should&#039;ve just started off with a first page full of people just saying &quot;nigger, nigger, nigger&quot; or something to that effect.]]></description>
