I bet that whole incident made Russell get a grip on reality. Bill, and most of the old soldiers have paved the way to modern day black success stories that we see on a daily basis. But when those that make it take the whole journey for granted, no words can describe the hurt and disappointment that our old school pioneers suffer. When all of those that make it realize that God opened the door and that they are obligated to giving back to those less fortunate, then we can truly sing the song of praise of how they got over. It is shameful to see lives lost on drug usage, or how money was squandered when people have earnestly prayed to just have a chance to experienced such good fortune. To have common sense these days seems like a lost art, as etiquette and manners have gone out the window. Some people have been so conditioned to being mistreated that one simple act of kindness is viewed with disbelief as if one waits to see what is being required in return. Hopefully this incident will be the first step in making a change for the betterment of our people and the world as a whole. To Sister Lross, your coloration does not matter to anyone as long as you are doing the right thing in living each and every day that God sees fit to give you breath. Be thankful, not hateful and ungrateful and let the windows of Heaven pour out a blessing that will truly let you know that you are on the right track. Peace out, Papacool.

Just discovered this site while searching google for Melissa Harris Perry (heard her on Al Sharpton). Mr. Simmons' article is the third one I've read, starting with the article about Dr. Perrry's comments about Dr. West.

The writing is great and I'm thrilled to have found you. Although the site is called "ThyBlackMan," I hope it's ok for a white woman to enjoy and learn.

Thank you
