I’d like to remind everyone that Harriett Beecher Stowe’s original Uncle Tom was in fact a tall, muscular, intelligent and highly charismatic hero figure, nowhere close to the horrific vaudevile ‘blackface’ figure of fun he was later made into by minstrel groups and the like.
