Another one sided article. Bravo! When will the liberals take note that payday loans, check cashing, and pawn shops are the back bone of the economy (not the poor) for many reasons including that the banks don't want to service Middle America. The "middle class" is becoming as extinct as the spotted leopard. Instead of condemning these services, we should praise them.

They service a consumer no one else is willing to. What is wrong with paying interest on an item you pawned? What is wrong with paying a fee to cash a check or to get a un secured loan? Do these business owners not have the right to profit? Do they not contribute to the economy by employing persons and paying taxes? Do the banks not charge $5.00 or more to cash a check? Do the banks charge $25.00 to $35.00 in check return fees and $5.00 per day or more in over draft fees? Why wasnt this addressed in the article? Why only monthly fees?

Before writing such rubbish, someone should really take a look at what the banks do to consumers out there in fees and ask why these businesses (pawn, check cashing, and payday) continue to thrive....Because consumers demand choice and they want options. The consumer doesn’t have to make use of these services, they choose too! Or, if you’re saying they don't have a choice than write about the failed bank system and fix it. I didnt see any alternatives in the article...Just condemnation.

These services are used by White, Black, Asian and others for many reasons. Some people prefer to get paid now and pay a fee as opposed to waiting a week for a check to clear the bank. Again, "choice" is a great word and does not have to mean keepting anyone down. What if your car breaks down? Can you get a loan for $300.00 to fix it? Wake up! These services play a valuable role in the lives of many regardless of color or where the "hood" is.
