ESPN has broadcasted the Broke documentary that looked at star football player who went from hero to zero overnight. Seems to me that someone should create a position of financial and personal responsibility and make it mandatory for all athletes to attend. I can not personally feel sorry for someone that had the opportunity to make more money in one year than I could ever hope for in a lifetime. Nothing is guaranteed in this life except death. Money does guarantee happiness and we have seen so many examples of athletes going overboard with lavish lifestyles and even have seen that the better halves also go crazy with their expectations of what it means to be rich. After seeing the suffering of some of these men and women in sports, I thank God everyday for allowing just to be grateful for whatever I am and have. Just to have peace of mind without being stressed and paranoid about who is out to get you or what they can get from you is a true blessing. These people have gone through the ringer, but they also have to take responsibility for their actions. The concept of being the producer of a star’s child is nothing new. But thinking that you are owed something for being selfish and manipulative is absolutely crazy. It takes two to tangle and after watching shows like Basketball Wives, I am appalled at the mindset of some of the people that make their lives public. Some things are better kept behind closed doors and while they are at it, they should super glue the locks and let it stay there. This is not just on the athletic front, but in the entertainment circle as well. A major adjustment is needed but no one can get help unless they realize they need it. Let us pray.
