(ThyBlackMan.com) The inspiration behind many topics I address on this site result from my daily travels. My pen can be activated by a chance encounter, witnessing conflict or kindness between people strangers and a host of occurrences. Anyone who visits this space frequently can attest to the fact that much of my material flows from my interaction with students at Prairie View A & M University (PVAMU). I have been blessed (yes, blessed) to serve as an African-American Studies Professor on “The Hill” for the past 15 years.

There is never a mundane day when lecturing Black students about Race in America; a topic that despite their blackness, they know nothing about.

It is strange that a people who have been the primary victims of prejudice, discrimination, bigotry, and institutionalized racism, African-Americans are no more versed in the genesis and operationalization of the above issues than their “White” counterparts. After all, Race has dogged the American psyche since the initial parcel of Africans arrived in Jamestown (1619). Unfortunately for this nation, the continual presence of this nation’s foremost social cancer has done little to increase its citizens understanding of Race. A recent discussion with PVAMU students reiterated this point for me.

The alluded to verbal exchange revolved around non-physical forms of oppression beyond lynching, rape, burning at the stake, and sexual assault.

Central to the referenced discussion was the denigration Blacks via Minstrel show performances and xenophobic literature supported by half-witted pseudo-science research. I asked those assembled if they thought that the foremost result of four-hundred years of maligning of the Black image rendered it beyond repair.

These moments where students intellectual curiosity is activated in an uncommon manner are the “sweet spot” that few educators reach. I actually pity educators who never arrive at this moment of nirvana. Not to brag or boast, I take much pride in reaching this point during every lecture that I deliver.

The assertion that “blackness” has been damaged beyond repair was scoffed at by those assembled. These young people thought that I was attacking their generations as so many before I have done. Desperate to deliver my point, I explained to my students that their generation, like others before it, including mine, are the personification of what W.E.B. Du Bois addressed in The Souls of Black Folk. According to DuBois,

It is a peculiar sensation to view oneself through the eyes of another.

Despite their natural inclinations to resist the assertion, many Blacks view their kind through the same disapproving lens that a hostile White populace has historically used. In many ways, Blacks adoption of Whites disapproving view of African-Americans is predictable when one considers that much of the formers socialization has come from institutions created to extend the privilege of the latter. Put simply, far too many Blacks have adopted the worldview of a White school system and social hierarchy that propagates Black inferiority.

The accumulation of negative characterizations of Blacks from realms as diverse as text books, music videos, popular culture expressions, and commercials produces a perspective that Blacks are hopelessly inferior to all others.

It is this mass psychosis of low self-esteem that figures such as Marcus Garvey, Elijah Muhammad, Malcolm X, and Clarence 13X fought against via ideologies and belief systems that are akin to psychotropic drugs. I am certain that a figure such as Clarence 13X would counter those who criticize his insistence that “The Black Man is God” with pertinent questions revolving around identity, Race, and power. One can only wonder what transformation occurs inside downtrodden Blacks who have become convinced that they are the most powerful species on the Planet.

It is difficult to argue against the assertion that it may be time for Black America to divorce itself from white institutions that advance advantageous historical narratives and worldviews that seek to instruct them that not only are they doomed but that God Almighty ordained their unfortunate circumstances. One thing is for certain, until Blacks begin to educate their own with a narrative of liberation, they will remain in their dire situation.

There is little room to debate the reality that “If you do what you always did, you’ll get what you always got.”

  1. IMMUNITIES says:

Why we can never trust U.S. Government. Read them carefully

ABSOLUTE IMMUNITY, QUALIFIED IMMUNITY, SOVEREIGN IMMUNITY. IT IS A FACT THAT, THERE ARE SITUATIONS WHERE CERTAIN PARTIES HAVE EITHER ABSOLUTE, QUALIFIED, OR SOVEREIGN IMMUNITY PROTECTING THEM FROM CERTAIN LAWS. ALL THREE OF THESE ARE DERIVED FROM THE PRINCIPLE THAT THE LAW ONLY APPLIES TO THE GOVERNMENT WHEN THE GOVERNMENT CONSENTS TO BEING HELD LIABLE. ABSOLUTE IMMUNITY EITHER APPLIES TO GOVERNMENT INDIVIDUALS OR IN SPECIFIC SITUATIONS. AN EXAMPLE OF ABSOLUTE IMMUNITY IS THAT DHS CANNOT BE SUED OR CHARGED FOR KIDNAPPING, BECAUSE PART OF THEIR JOB IS TAKING CHILDREN FROM THEIR HOMES WITHOUT THE PARENTS CONSENT. AN EXAMPLE THAT WOULD APPLY TO A NON-GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL IS THAT YOU CANNOT BE SUED FOR DEFAMATION WHILE TESTIFYING IN COURT OR TO CONGRESS; YOU MIGHT BE GUILTY OF PERJURY, BUT YOU CANNOT BE ACCUSED OF SPREADING A FALSEHOOD WHEN YOU ARE COMPELLED TO SPEAK.

QUALIFIED IMMUNITY PROTECTS GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS FROM ANYTHING EXCEPT FOR VIOLATIONS OF CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS WHEN CARRYING OUT THEIR JOB FUNCTIONS. THIS IS WHAT ALLOWS LAW ENFORCEMENT TO BREAK INTO A HOUSE AND RANSACK IT ONLY TO DISCOVER THEY GOT THE WRONG HOUSE, OR KILL SOMEONE WHO IS NOT THREATENING THE OFFICER WITH DEADLY FORCE. IT IS QUALIFIED BECAUSE IT ONLY EXTENDS TO THE SCOPE OF THE PERSONS JOB, AND DOES NOT GIVE THEM THE RIGHT TO VIOLATE YOUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS.

SOVEREIGN IMMUNITY PROTECTS GOVERNMENTS THEMSELVES FROM BEING SUED BY THEIR OWN CITIZENS, OR CITIZENS OF OTHER GOVERNMENTS WITHIN THE UNITED STATES. THE EARLIEST TEST OF THIS WAS WHEN A SOUTH CAROLINIAN, ALEXANDER CHISHOLM, LOANED A BUNCH OF MONEY TO THE COLONY OF GEORGIA DURING THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR, AND THE (LATER) STATE OF GEORGIA NEVER PAID HIM BACK. HE SUED GEORGIA FOR COLLECTIONS AND WON; EVEN THOUGH AMERICANS HAD JUST FOUGHT TO BE FREE FROM THE SOVEREIGN,THEY WERE SO UPSET BY THIS DECISION THAT AN INDIVIDUAL CITIZEN COULD SUE A STATE THAT THEY PROMPTLY PASSED THE 11TH AMENDMENT, WHICH MADE IT CLEAR THAT GOVERNMENT IMMUNITY IN ITS VARIOUS FORMS ARE HERE TO STAY.

Government is incapable of dealing with the citizens of this country on equal footing. That goes more than double for most of Black America. No government official has ever said that, when it comes to dealing with the citizens of the United States, we need to remove these immunities. There are very few reasons for Black people in America to place trust in any government that has that amount of power over us. This is also one of the biggest reasons why, We The Black People in America must have our own government, not the one that curently exist. That plus the overall accepted treatment of Black people in America by all levels of government. We do not change this system by becoming art of this system. We must create one far more equal. That will never be the one we have now, NEVER.

If in fact we are truly allowed to be free from the United States government. I say, let us put that into practice.

  2. Washed Away says:

It is a great shame that Black America is not openly outraged everyday. PLEASE read these definations carefully. Ethnic Cleansing Law and Legal Definition – Ethnic Cleansing is the deliberate and systematic removal of a racial, political, or cultural group from a specific geographical area. The term ethnic cleansing is different from genocide. These terms are not synonymous, yet the academic discourse considers both as existing in a spectrum of assaults on nations or religio-ethnic groups. Ethnic cleansing is similar to forced deportation or ‘population transfer’ whereas genocide is the intentional murder of part or all of a particular ethnic, religious, or national group. The idea in ethnic cleansing is “to get people to move, and the means used to this end range from the legal to the semi-legal”.

While only about 30% of Bay Area residents are Hispanic or Black, more than 60% of people shot and killed by police officers over the last decade are Hispanic or Black. With the Black population making up les than 5% of that 30%, yet are still the vast majority of that 30% shot or killed by police. Any other place in this world that is part of the definition of ethnic cleansing.

  3. Jaanilin says:

This new nation is rising also because of the reasons listed in the post dated Uncle Jesse – August 30, 2019. The same song is applicable in explaining to a great degree what this new nation is all about

  4. Vincent V. says:

“Oh, ’tis is a pretty country
and the Negroes own it too,
With not a single white man here
To tell us what to do-in Boley”
    by town poet Uncle Jesse

We must get back to Uncle Jesse, to this understanding, bringing it forward, learning from past mistakes, doing this far better than ever before. – We must stop being white people chasers, in all forms of life. Yes, that is possible. The harsh reality. This has not happened because most black people today are afraid to take the necessary steps to do so. It is easier just to blame white people. Currently, black America is not as strong as professed. No, this is not a challenge, it is a harsh truth.

What Uncle Jesse said, must be done, MUST be done not out of hate, but out of the GREAT
    NECESSITY listed below.

This new facial recognition technology, for black America is just another tool given to the greatest oppresses, liars, murders of African American people who claim to provide justice for all to easily continue and do more of the same. Inclusive of the American justice system too.

African Americans Wrongful Convictions Throughout History. A history that repeats itself daily at an accelerated pace, in one form or another.
    ttps://www.innocenceproject.org/african-american-wrongful-convictions-throughout-history/

A disproportionate amount of wrongfully convicted former inmates are African-American.

    1. African-American prisoners who are convicted of murder are about 50% more likely to be innocent than other convicted murderers.
    2.  A black prisoner serving time for sexual assault is 3 1/2 times more likely to be innocent than a white sexual assault convict.
    3. Assaults on white women by African-American men are a small minority of all sexual assaults in the United States, but they constitute 50% of sexual assaults with eyewitness misidentifications that led to exoneration.
    4. Since 1989, more than 1,800 defendants have been cleared in group exonerationsthat followed 15 large-scale police scandals in which officers systematically framed innocent defendants. The great majority were African-American defendants who were framed for drug crimes that never occurred.
    5. For murders, those who have been exonerated spent on average more than 14 years in prison before they were released. Many more have not been exonerated at all; more often than not, they will die in prison.

Most of us know that the Central Park Five story is far more common than not. Most of those truths will never be presented to the general public.

No thanks to you for putting into the hands of the most oppressive force to the African American population across this county an easier means to keep all this going at a much faster rate.
Just watch, a few year later, you will find this to be 100%correct. Wait, you already know that.

What must be done is for Black America to create a Police force that is protective of us. With or without facial recognition technology, continuing to work with the ones that currently exist is utter stupidity. It is not up to any level of government, working with and waiting on them has gotten us centuries of the same, overall, not getting any better. For modern day, begin with The New Jim Crow. and read forward.

To all you people who keep saying work with this system. You are assisting the setting us up for more of the same. Trump or no Trump, Democrat or Republican, this does not change.

As in the all black town of Hayti, North Carolina, Civil Rights Movement victories played a role in the decline of black communities such as Hayti. When African-Americans won the right to
live as citizens–and consumers–in the white world, Hayti’s businesses had
to share their limited pool of customers. However, according to historian Jean Bradley Anderson, urban renewal dealt Hayti its death blow.

How do we we move forward in tis day and time with Uncle Jesse. Here is how, which most Black people in America won’t do, simply because you will find out exactly how much of a slave you are. I am one Black person who did and everyone I mentioned this to thought I was trying to gain something for nothing, was treated with having the police called on me.

The lasw tells us that we have the right to create out own money, not federal money, out own money, we can make it non-taxable if we choose, this money can be applied in black towns and communities throughout the country. [See why most black people are afraid, and why most will find out exactly how much of a slave you are to massa.]

Another harsh reality for Black people will be this. Most likely those of us who are the most wealthy, would lose their greatest amount of wealth, because all that wealth is based on the federal dollar system. If the currency for our communities were to take off, and become so strong that the federal dollars would have no vlaue, those at the top of the federal dollar ladder would have no financial value in this new black country. Yes, that could happen.

If we were willing to work together, we could make this form of currency viable throughout the world. You had better bet there will be an all out stop them from doing this by the federal government. Why? Because we would have just taken the biggest consumers our of federal hands and placed that right into our own. [THAT WOULD BE REALLY STRONG.] I gurantee this will not be without a major fight from the United States Federal government, and lots of Black people too, because we are never ment to be that free and fear. Below are the laws stating how and why this is legal. Once again, we would be treated as criminals for doing something that is completely to our benefit and 100% legal. I do know that most of us are afraid to do what is necessary to be that free. To me, that is not a very strong people. Again, not a challenge, just a truth. Is it legal to mint your own private currency in the US? The answer is yes. The site below list some in America and some in other countries too. Some communities have for 20 to 50 years with GREAT success, why not us? With most of these currencies being printed right in the community, and as much as you want.
    https://mentalfloss.com/article/55414/7-cities-have-their-own-currencies.

I say, we use this to build industries, education, factories, fund businesses, police forces, protective of us, our legal systems, protective of us and much more.

If we wer e anywhere near as strong as we claim, we would have seen the value in us having a system such as these, and as some others have done, circulateing this currency throughout their cities and commnities doing the same. Of course it should be used to make these new black country stronger, yes country.

Whatever it is that keeps us saying that white people are doing to us, is just an excuse. It is we who are doing to us.

Could you imagine having the equivalent of at least one hundred billion tax free dollars a year, floating throughout Black America, for the sole purpose of assisting the black community, with no ties to federal dollars.

If you can’t, then you really have no idea what is possible. It is being done everyday, right now. Many of you see it happening right in front of you “EVERYDAY” and have no idea what you are looking at. An even bigger question is, why have we never been taught that this is possible by our own so called economic professors and professionals? From writing that, there are some of you who will know who this is, because I have pointed this out to you, and to each one to whom I did, you were in total shock.

I will continue to point this out to individuals one by one and will never write about it extensively, simply due to the fact that I do not want to mess up this beautiful working unity of any community who is providing this kind of wealth to their own, distributed when and where needed to keep that community financially strong. Just in the doing of that, there is a needed, firm infrastructure, one which I do not believe we have.

Whatever it is that keeps us saying that white people are doing to us, is just an excuse. It is equally and at times more, we who are doing to us.

That is worth having. We are worth that.
