From Grave-Digger to Go-Getter.

(ThyBlackMan.com) For success to happen you must want it to happen and you must also develop the ability to visualize your success – even in the face of adversity! So many of us today have swallowed the ‘kool-aid’ of impaired thinking, which suggests mediocrity is acceptable. So much of our passion has flat-lined.

For my purposes, a ‘box’ is tantamount to a ‘grave’ in terms of the way we think about our lives.

Today, if you wish to be successful, you must learn to think outside the box, and if you have dug yourself into a grave – time to get out! But in order to get out the grave, you must first understand that you are indeed in a grave and that you and you alone have dug yourself into a grave!

And, if you are in a grave, you may be guilty of ‘grave-yard’ thinking. Thinking you don’t have what it takes to be successful – that’s grave-yard thinking! Thinking that you don’t really have to study for that all-important examination, that you got it made in the shade – grave-yard thinking!

Today, you must decide and determine that you are in this thing to win it! You must acquit yourself of excellence and make a bold and determined push toward your destiny. You must decide – today, right now, and this very second – whether you are going to move from grave-digger to go-getter!

Marks of a grave-digger:

Starts out on top but ends up at bottom

Someway, we have got to infuse our youth with a can-do attitude!

The grave-digger has but only point of departure: he or she begins above ground and works their way down. Or, as my fourth-grade teacher used to say, you begin the year with an ‘A’, how you choose to end it is your business. Don’t we all have the best ‘intentions’ when we begin a project – when we endeavor to save money, lose weight, becoming better parents?

Marks of a go-getter:

Rises to the top!

Bouncing back from setbacks!

We all make blunders or strategic errors; we all are guilty of wrong-thinking and reap the rewards thereof. Most people, though, don’t learn from their mistakes; therefore, they keep committing the same mistakes over and over.

When you hit bottom, it’s time to say to yourself –“I’m tired of being at rock bottom!” You must become tired of being tired and conspire to do something about it.

The go-getter is the person who’s ready for change and to make change happen – right now! This person endeavors to get out of the grave he or she has dug and make an impact.

The first thing this person does is reverse the thinking which got them digging graves in the first place. You can’t go through life being comfortable with the grave you’ve dug.

Begin to look at life like the old goat that wandered into an open field and fell into a pit. The farmer searched for the goat and, upon seeing it trapped in the pit, decided to write off his investment. He took a shovel and began throwing dirt down the pit. The goat had other ideas. Every time the farmer would throw dirt down, it shook it off and stamped it under its feet. Eventually, the goat got out of the pit by elevating itself!

You have the same power!
