(ThyBlackMan.com) Energy drinks have become a staple in the stores across the country. Many of us consume them, and do so regularly. Many of them rival the daily cups of coffee in caffeine, but have other ingredients the coffee does not contain. Though drinking energy drinks are not deadly per se one should be careful not to consume them irresponsibly. There are energy drinks on the market that do as far as warning you not to drink the whole drink at one time, like Redline, if you choose not to follow those instructions it can have dangerous side effects.

Everyone can’t consume energy drinks as they are sensitive to caffeine or pregnant. However, some have reported rapid heart increase, itchy skin, and even slight burning sensations in right under the skin. Of course, these things do not happen to everyone, but even if you don’t feel it energy drink do tend to raise ones blood pressure levels.

Sachin A. Shah of David Grant Medical Center on Travis Air Force Base and University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, and colleagues measured the participants’ blood pressure and used an electrocardiogram (often called an ECG or EKG) to measure heart electrical activity for 24 hours after the subjects consumed the drinks. Blood pressure increased by close to 5 points after drinking the energy drink, but by just under 1 point after drinking the caffeine beverage. Blood pressure also remained elevated six hours later.” If a person is in good shape and healthy this is not as much of an issue, but a person with heart conditions should be very careful with energy drinks.

People have been known to get sick, and the majority are young people. Adolescents really should not consume energy drinks as it can put their hearts at risk. Energy drinks often market as being able to help one stay focused, but many of them do no more than coffee in that area. “Energy drinks typically contain high levels of sugar and at least as much caffeine as a cup of coffee. But the drinks also often tout the energy-boosting effects of a mix of other ingredients, ranging from taurine and l-carnitine, naturally occurring amino acids, to ginseng (a Chinese herb typically used in alternative medicine). But despite this “special blend” of ingredients, studies suggest energy drinks don’t boost attention any better than a cup of coffee does.”

Honestly, many have their go to energy drink that, unlike coffee, is cold and carbonated. It offers the same feeling going down as Coke, for some, and doesn’t have the phosphoric acid. If you choose to deal in energy drinks it is very important to drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated. Energy drinks are not something you want to have as a regular part of your daily intake. Partaking at different times is okay, but you don’t want to form an addition to them because at that point they probably aren’t as effective. If you must have your Red Bull do so carefully.
