(ThyBlackMan.com) A ton of new information and news about Red Dead Redemption 2 surfaced in the last couple of days. We broke down all of that information to help you get an idea of what you can do in RDR 2, one of the most anticipated games releasing in 2018. The Red Dead Redemption 2’s release date is just around the corner and there’s a lot more to discuss in the coming days. Let’s find out the most exciting Red Dead Redemption 2 features we are going to see in the game.

You’ll control only one protagonist

Arthur Morgan is the chief enforcer of the gang and he is the only protagonist players will be controlling in Red Dead Redemption 2. About switching, the game developer Rockstar said that the team thought about it but in the final game, players will stay with the same character. There were rumors and leaks suggesting RDR 2 will have multiple protagonists similar to that of Grand Theft Auto V.

Provide food and supplies to your gang

The family in Red Dead Redemption 2 looks bigger than before. The images shared by the developer feature many new characters appearing for the first time in the series. Some of them are probably the new recruits. Our protagonist Arthur works as the right hand for Dutch, the leader of the Van der Linde gang.

Arthur also acts as the only hope for many of the gang members in certain situations like acting as a mediator when internal divisions are deepening. Players can choose to explore and hunt alone and they can also decide not to feed the gang but it will eventually cause the player to lose certain rewards and such decisions will have different consequences.

Make choices that have a massive impact on the story

As the lone protagonist in RDR 2, players as Arthur will have to make choices. Arthur always puts the gang first but as we have seen in the trailer, he is not always happy with his boss Dutch and now he is not ready to accept everything that’s happening in the gang.

In an interview, the co-studio head of Rockstar North, Rob Nelson said the studio is giving players choices and that’s going to have a huge impact on the game’s story. Some of the missions give you an option where you’ve to make a choice, for example, you can decide if you want to be the one who goes first or you’ll let your gang members go first.

Play a standalone game

If you’ve never been a part of the RDR series and never played any Red Dead Redemption game, you don’t need to have played previous titles to understand the new game. The story in the new game has connections with the past, but it doesn’t heavily rely on past events. You will surely see some of the characters coming from the previous game, but there won’t be anything for which you have to learn everything about the game series before playing Red Dead Redemption 2.

Wildlife and hunting

Wildlife in Red Dead Redemption 2 is said to be highly improved. Arthur can not only use the horse as a medium to travel, his horse will actually work as his companion. The rich wildlife in the game includes birds and animals of different species including rabbits, bears, fireflies, deer etc.

Players taking control of Arthur will now be able to control the horse in many ways. They can calm it down, groom it and train it to remain calm. On the other hand, an agitated horse can invite a lot of trouble for the player. Horse breeds even have their own personality that makes them capable of carrying certain goods and react in different ways in a certain situation.

Tools and features

Players will be using the weapon wheel to select weapons and there will be options for weapon upgrades. Aiming system in the game shares similarities with the one we saw in the Grand Theft Auto series and there will be some new controls available in the final game.

Honor System makes a comeback with the Red Dead Redemption 2. It will be in place to determine how NPCs and other settlements treat Arthur. Rockstar has not shared specific details about the HUD system but from the demo, it has become clear that the HUD will be customizable. You can turn off the game icons and also the minimap in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Red Dead Redemption 2 release is set for October 26, 2018. The game will be released on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game developer Rockstar has not shared any details about the game’s PC release.
