(ThyBlackMan.com) Marvel’s Spider-Man is coming on PlayStation 4 and it’s an ambitious game being developed by Insomniac Games. With many legendary playable characters and a huge map, the game will bring all the abilities of the superhero we have seen in the franchise. The acrobatic abilities, web-slinging, wall crawling, and some new elements are coming in the Spider-Man game. The PS4 exclusive game is scheduled for a 2018 release, here’s what we have learned about the game in 2017.

1. A bigger NYC map

Whilst the studio has released some gameplay footage, there’s so much we still don’t know about the upcoming game. A curious fan asked the developers about the game’s new map and its size and the game developer, Insomniac Games confirmed that the map is going to be “several times larger” than the Sunset Overdrive. It is safe to say that the Marvel’s Spider-Man game will bring a huge map where there will be plenty of room for fans to enjoy Spidey’s abilities.

2. Improvements in the suit

The game developer revealed that the suit has not changed completely but there are changes in how it looks in the new game. The developer said that the team had to standardize the materials and the changes caused more shininess. The level of specularity achieved by the developers is pretty impressive and players will be seeing improvements in the way the Spider-man suit looks.

3. More villains

In Marvel’s Spider-Man there will be a lot more villains including the classic characters and some newcomers as well. The game will also bring some more suits and new characters in the game. The developer has not revealed all the details about the suits and characters, but the team says that it’s going to be a very exciting journey.

4. Physics-based web swinging

Web swinging in Marvel’s Spider-Man is completely based on physics which is a great choice over the scripted movements. The studio said that it has taken care of traversal very well and wall-running, swinging and leaping off things will be more realistic than ever.

5. An authentic story

When Insomniac announced that they are working on a Spider-man PS4 game, many of us were worried about the authenticity of the game’s story. According to the studio, Marvel is actively involved in the game’s development. It clearly means that the storyline won’t lose the grip on past events and the core elements of the franchise will be carefully designed in the new game. Marvel Games creative director Bill Rosemann has active involvement in the upcoming game.

6. New combat styles

The first Marvel’s Spider-Man PS4 trailer shows a very active Spidey with all of his classic movements. He not only swings through the streets, but also showcases some new combat styles developed for him. The springy acrobatics are pretty impressive. With the combination of agility and pulp of web, the action looks more realistic and the vast map convinces us to believe that the Spider-Man in 4K on PS4 will be a treat to our eyes.

7. A lot more to control

The game features open-world environment and gives you a lot of control over the objects. If you watch the Marvel’s Spider-man PS4 trailer video, you will observed that most of the time, players will have to control the objects. During fights and chasing the enemies, players will be free to take their own decisions to beat villains. Certain sequences will require a lot more input from players and as a result, it is going to be a challenging journey for players. Those who have never played any game based on Spidey will surely need time to learn and get a hold over the controls.

Meanwhile, the Rise of the Tomb Raider Game Director Brian Horton confirmed that he is joining Insomniac Games and he will work on the Spider-Man. The developer has worked on many AAA titles including Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Horton has worked with many studios including EA, Disney Interactive, Dreamsworks, The Collective, and Crystal Dynamics.
