(ThyBlackMan.com) We all wish to be happy! The question is what do we do to promote and attain it? There are a million and one ways for sure, depending on the life coach sultan you currently follow. I’ve discovered, though, that personal happiness and wellness are really quite simple virtues to realize. Indeed, personal happiness is personal wellness and vice versa. If you want to be happy, be well. If you want to be well, be happy. It’s not rocket science!

Use the following four questions as a guide to discovering a healthy and holistic lifestyle.

What Do You Do to Promote Personal Wellness?

Personal wellness is more than physical health and is not just limited to exercise. Personal wellness is the conscious effort to integrate multiple aspects of one’s life, including the physical, mental and spiritual dimensions. Personal wellness is the crucial foundation to how successfully one navigates the demands of one’s physical environment.

To ‘promote’ your personal wellness, you must commit yourself to a daily regimen of physical activity, mental stimulation and spiritual bonding. How you respond to life’s challenges is determined in large part to the efficacy of your approach personal wellness.

What Activity Will Elevate Your Heart Rate for Ten Minutes a Day?

Personal wellness begins in the physical sphere. It begins with physical activity. What activity can you commit to on a daily basis that will get and keep your heart elevated for a minimum of ten minutes per day? An elevated heart rate occurs when your beats per minute (bpm) reaches at 60-70% of your maximum heart rate. To determine your maximum heart rate, subtract your age from 220. That number is the goal for your physical activity.

Now determine what activity can get you to that number for ten minutes. It could be as simple as power walking, swimming, mowing the lawn or cycling. It could also be using the stairs at work. Whatever it is, find your ten-minute activity!

In What Area of Your Life Can You Set a Goal?

Personal wellness proceeds from the physical to the non-physical with goal-setting. Essentially, we are magnetized beings, designed to attract and also to move toward that which attracts us. A goal accomplishes this.

Choose an area of your life and set a goal. It could health, wealth or love – the three magnetic areas of the human life. We all want something from each of (if not all) of these dimensions.

You must ensure that your goal is measurable and attainable. If it’s health, for example, your goal may be to lose ten pounds. But do not set the timetable at two weeks. Depending on your present level of activity, that could be unrealistic and dangerous.

Which Part of Your Day Do You Own?

Personal wellness goes even deeper into the non-physical realm by delving into the spiritual. For me, the spiritual is the domain of the individual in relation to a relationship with a Higher Power. It’s how you maintain that relationship with your Divinity and how it manifests with its supreme reality as expressed in God.

This relationship requires you to be alone, to bathe yourself in silence and to arrest the faculties of meditation and breathing techniques.

Which part of your day is best for you to be alone? Is it the morning, before you awaken the household or at late evening when the household is asleep? Is it at work for a few moments in your office or when you take a lunch break? Whenever it is, find some solace time. Your wellness will be discovered in repose!
