Dragon Ball Fighterz – My Thoughts.

(ThyBlackMan.com) When I first heard that a 2.5D Dragon Ball fighting game was coming out, I was very ecstatic because I’ve not been this excited for a Dragon Ball fighting game since Budokai 3 came out in November 2004 for the Sony PlayStation 2 Back during my senior year in high school.

I remember going to a Budokai 3 tournament that was once held at the old Game Zone location and there were many gamers there, particularly the ones that looked like me. I remember wiping the floor with my first two opponents until I went up in the semifinals against a little Asian kid. The fight between me and him was so intense until the little Asian kid managed to get a few lucky blows on me and beat me in an upset. That upset loss still stings for me personally to this day.

One of the things I remember enjoying about Budokai 3 the most was the great fighting mechanic that was a much better upgrade from the two previous Budokai games that was well received by fans and gamers alike and one example is when you go into what’s called a “Dragon Rush” where you hit your opponent and then hit a sequence of buttons and if done correctly, you will do a super attack against your opponent.

When I first heard saw the first gameplay trailer forDragon Ball Fighterz this year, it looked so badass with the crisp 2.5D graphics and a control scheme that’s very similar to the first Marvel vs Capcom game in which you had to press certain buttons to do air combos as well as single character hyper combos and double team hyper combos.

One of the tricks that most gamers didn’t know about the first Marvel vs Capcom game was that Wolverine is the only character from that game to do three hyper combos at one time because you had to make sure to do all three of them correctly that takes about half of the vitality off of your opponent. And doing the trifecta hyper combo with Wolverine was absolutely sick back in the day.

Aside from the crisp 2.5D graphics that Dragon Ball Fighterz have, the roster for the game is very solid that includes some of my favorite Dragon Ball characters from Vegeta, Beerus, Frieza, Hit, Future Trunks, & Goku Black. I am planning on buying the digital copy of this game on Steam so that I can enjoy the old memories of playing a Dragon Ball fighting game that I greatly enjoy playing for the first time since Budokai 3 during my senior year in high school.

The Conclusion – As popular as the Xenoverse series is, I personally think that Dragon Ball Fighterz could top them as being the biggest selling Dragon Ball fighting game of all time.
