(ThyBlackMan.com) Huawei Mate 10 is the world’s first smartphone that comes equipped with the Kirin 970 system-on-chip (SoC). Huawei said that the new chipset focuses on the future of artificial intelligence. The mobile phone comes with a dedicated Neural-.Network Processing Unit (NPU). This is a major step taken by the company as the development of AI-based applications is growing rapidly, and such powerful processor can surely provide more advantage to the developers as well as the users.

What’s inside the Kirin 970?

The Kirin 970 chipset is supported by an octa-core CPU. The chipset sports 10nm fabrication and there’s also a 12-core GPU in the mobile phone. For graphic processing, this smartphone is absolutely a beast. The company claims that the Huawei Mate 10 Pro is 25x more powerful in terms of performance and is 50x more efficient.

The phone’s NPU is directly powered by the cloud-based system. In simple terms, it is a phone that truly learns from you based on how you use it. The phone is capable of predicting the most suitable modes and also optimizes the performance of the device to keep it stunningly fast. An interesting fact about the NPU is that Huawei is allowing developers to use the NPU for third-party applications. It means that the Kirin 970 SoC offers an open platform to developers.

It’s beyond competition

Be it Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835, Samsung Exynos 9 Series, Apple’s A10X Fusion or Helio X30 by MediaTek, no company has paid so much attention to AI in their chipsets. However, these processors can beat each other in some areas, but Huawei Mate 10 Pro shows that the company has a vision and Kirin 970 proves itself stronger than the other mobile chipsets.

The future is AI. The rise of artificial intelligence in form of various voice assistants, security applications, and cloud-based services is clearly a sign of the growth of this technology. Huawei has made the difference with a dedicated NPU which is not only going to change the way we interact with mobile phones, it will also pave the way for more improved AI-based applications for smartphones.

Huawei Mate 10 Pro Kirin 970 vs. competition

Now when the details of Kirin 970 are available, it is fair to compare it with Apple A10X Fusion, Snapdragon 835, Helio X30 and other similar mobile processors. All these processors are built using 10nm fabrication process. While Kirin 970, Snapdragon 835 and Samsung Exynos 9 Series 8895 support octa-core CPU, Apple’s A10X Fusion features 6 CPU cores while Heli X30 comes with a 10-core CPU. Only Kirin 970 offers an NPU while the others don’t.

Should we start believing that the Kirin 970 beats all of them? One thing to keep in mind is that all the mobile chipsets are different and their performance depends on various factors. Looking at just specifications can only show us half of the picture. The hardware configuration, processor layout, operating system, and software design play a major role in a device’s performance. A great way to check how a device performs is to see the benchmark test reports. In terms of graphics, the Huawei Mate 10 Pro beats all the Android devices, and in terms of performance, it loses the battle against the iPhone 8 Plus.

The important thing here is Huawei is delivering something new with the Mate 10 Pro. The company said that it is looking beyond the competition that is true. As far as the scores on benchmark results are concerned, you will surely see all the flagship phones beating each other on different fronts.

An average user who plays games, consumes media, performs office tasks on phone won’t even notice the difference in performance on any of the leading mobile phones. The same goes with the Huawei Mate 10 Pro. Its 64GB variant comes with 4GB of RAM, while the 128GB model sports a 6GB RAM. This much memory capacity on a mobile phone will not let you see any lags, as long as the software delivers buttery performance. The mobile phone comes with a 20MP dual camera and an 8MP front camera. The 6-inch AMOLED display is sure to give you extremely good gaming experience offering more area with narrow bezels on both the sides.
