(ThyBlackMan.com) In past articles I’ve written about the inner heckler, the voice inside us that disparages our dreams and derides our aspirations – it’s the voice that tries to talk us out of our personal best. The inner heckler is one of the reasons so many people are unhappy, unproductive and unhinged from their personal best at life. Too many people have been defeated by this insidious force.

How do we snuff out our inner heckler? By giving place to its opposite – our inner healer. There’s a healer inside of you; it is the voice that reassures you of your greatness and reminds you that you are much more successful than you imagine.

Our inner healer is the most powerful force in the universe; it lives inside each of us and all we need to do is summon its power. Our inner healer is the force that pushes to give our best, be our best and do our best.

When we give attention to this omnipotent presence, we tap into a power that is unmatched. Yet, this power cannot come to us until and unless we nurture it in quiet moments. Consequently, the following important attitudes (among many) surface to our conscious attention.

Lift Lessons from Defeat

While the heckler will remind you of your defeats, the healer will push you to extract lessons from them. What did you learn from your last defeat? What lesson did failure teach you? What blessing have you extracted from a lesson?

The fact is we must learn to make steady use of our experiences – even the ones we wish to write off. Our inner healer is there to guide us, if we trust it. Our inner healer does not promote becoming imprisoned by our defeats, but rather growing stronger because of them.

For example, if you’ve been recently fired or suffered a layoff, turn that defeat or setback into an opportunity for a comeback. Use the knowledge or skills you’ve learned to form a new future.

Hang Around Winners not Whiners

Our inner healer loves the company of positivity. People are conditioned by people. There are winners and then there are whiners. Whiners and complainers are the heckler’s domain; the more you hang with the former the less power you give to the latter. Reduce your circle of friends to a positive few. Your inner heckler is amplified by the voices of whiners, those who do nothing but complain about their lot in life but who do very little to change it.

Listen, everybody plays the fool for something; everybody’s been traumatized by a life experience, but the person who is strongest is the one who rises from their status and lives victoriously. That’s the type of person to hang around!

Reduce your Intake of Bad News

Our inner healer resides in our subconscious, where it is susceptible to our conscious experiences. Bad news is all around us, virtually twenty-four hours a day. From the time we get up to the time we go to bed, our senses are under virtual assault. Identify the primary sources of bad news: who’s bringing the bad stuff to you? Is it someone in your personal circle or are you getting a regular dosage via cyberspace?

Whatever the sources, drop bad news like your dropping pounds. Your mental temple will thank you for it! You will feel mentally refreshed and your outlook will improve greatly. Do a television fast, especially as you near bedtime. Do not take negativity into your slumber – it will greet you the next morning.

When we give attention to this omnipotent presence called our inner healer, we tap into a power that is unmatched
