(ThyBlackMan.com) We are trapped in noise and noise in trapped in us. Don’t believe me? Ask yourself these three questions: When was the last time you sat still? How did it feel? Do you miss that feeling? Show me a person frazzled and fretful and I’ll show you someone who’s unfamiliar with repose.

You can create the life you want, the peace you deserve and the balance you need – but it must begin in the Silence.

Everything that’s created comes out of silence, writes Wayne Dyer.

All that is required is that you take control of your day – seize it! – and carve out just a few moments for you. Whether you just sit still, reflect, read positive literature or pray, you have enormous power at your command in the Silence.

Every person who has ever achieved great things learned the art of sitting still. If you want to achieve something great – even if it’s just your peace of mind – consider these three benefits of the Silence.

Benefit#One:

You Will Root yourself in this Present Moment

The Silence is always inviting us back into the present moment. The tendency is to fume about the past and fret about the future, but in the Silence we have the opportunity to root – to refocus ourselves – with what’s happening now.

Francis Bacon opined, Silence is the sleep that nourishes wisdom.

It’s in this period of quietude that we receive instruction on how to handle our greatest challenges; it is here that we discover the wisdom that is the beginning of knowledge. Throw down your anchor in quiet moments and watch in amazement how your perspective is energized.

Benefit#Two:

You Will Recognize your Power

Power is not just a feeling; it’s a state of mind. Most people do not feel powerful because they have not experienced power as consciousness.

As the writer Audrey Lorde, puts it: When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.

Developing a power consciousness and recognizing our own inherent power only happens in the Silence.

Once we establish that sense of interconnectedness in the Silence, all of our power – that which had been held in check by conflict, negativity and opposition – begins to flow right back into us. Fear loses its grip on us; we become reacquainted with our greatest attribute and the absolute sense of triumph which is ours- but only in the Silence do we discover this!

Benefit#Three:

Reaffirm your Purpose

The venerable Ralph Waldo Emerson penned these immortal words: The purpose of life is not to be happy; it is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you lived and lived well.

Everybody is not called to lead global social movements, but each one of us can be a spark for the little things that launch great action.

We have a purpose on this planet. Only in the Silence can this purpose be nurtured, revealed and reaffirmed.

When we reclaim the power that is rightfully ours, we are then ready to reaffirm our purpose. We know that we have a reason to be alive, that we have a task to perform on this planet, in this moment and on this day we are alive.

Today, create the life you want in the Silence.
