(ThyBlackMan.com) Focus on the Good

“Trust in the Lord, and do good”.

-Psalms 37:3

All across our land we witness people – in both low and high places – practicing bad and producing bad results. Bad people do bad things. Bad people rob. Bad people lie and cover up their lies. Bad people cause mayhem and mischief. There are bad people in the world, people with misguided souls and misguided intention. Against this spectrum of ‘bad’, the Psalmist implores us to focus on the opposite and do good. ‘Good’, as this writer sees it, is an act of benevolence, it is performing random acts of kindness.

To do good, though, requires first that we think good. When we think thoughts of happiness, success, and well-being, we sharpen our ability to act – or ‘do’ – good.

Affirmation:

I affirm my good. I affirm the good in others. In drawing out good in others, I experience the power of my own good. I will speak good; I will feel good; I will become the good I seek.

Quote:

Let each men think himself an act of God, his mind a thought, his life a breath of God. And let each try, by great thoughts and good deeds, to show the most of heaven he hath in him. –Phillip James Bailey

Live Forward

“…forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead…”
-Philippians 3:13 (New Living Translation)

The average length and width on a midsize sedan windshield is 34.5 by 54.5. By contrast, the average size of a rear-view mirror is between eight to twelve inches. There’s a reason the front wind shield is three times the size of a rear-view mirror. There is more ahead of you than behind. More success ahead. More abundance ahead. More positive results ahead.

Don’t obsess about your past.

Your dreams are in front of you, not behind you. Something big is about to happen ahead, but you will miss it by being glued to the past. Understand your past but be determined to live your life progressively. That’s what you were designed to do.

Affirmation:

I affirm that I have been wired to move forward.

Quote:

Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards. Soren Kierkegaard

Right Thinking

“Whatsoever things are pure…think on these things.”

Joseph Prince was on point when he opined, If you have toxic emotions of fear, guilt and depression, it is because you have wrong thinking, and you have wrong thinking because of wrong believing. In the end, it is not what happens to us but rather how we respond to it that shapes our lives. When we designate ourselves as victims of our circumstances, we are practicing wrong thinking. Wrong thinking comes from conditioning; it is a dream-killer and all of us are guilty of it. The key to remember here is that when you fail to change your wrong thinking, you ultimately begin to engage in wrong believing.

Thinking you are broke is wrong thinking.

Thinking that you are a failure is wrong thinking.

Thinking that you are weak is wrong thinking.

Today, begin to engage your life with right-thinking.

Begin today to see yourself as a victor – regardless of where you are!

Affirmation:

I affirm my ability to change myself, my circumstances and my future. I affirm that I am in possession of a power that is limitless!

Quote:

That a man can change himself, improve himself, reinvent himself, control his environment and master his own destiny is the conclusion of every mind wide-awake to the power of right-thinking. Richard Larsen
