“To be the queen of rap, you can’t have a ghostwriter / and that’s why this is my house, flow writer / Niggas done seen Drake pennin,’ Wayne pennin,’ and since your first boyfriend left, bitch—you ain’t winnin’, -Remy Ma (sheTHER)

Remy Ma came dressed for a funeral when she released “sheTHER” the latest diss track rapped over Nas’s Ether diss track to Jay- Z. “My grandma told me not to speak ill of the dead”, Remy stated dressed in all black on Wendy Williams today. “It wasn’t that Nicki was targeted. People don’t understand. I hear people like, ‘We’re waiting for her response. shETHER was a response. She started it. I feel like it’s weird because she’s been doing this to a lot of females from Lil’ Kim to Mariah to Taylor to and no one says anything.

Remy went on to say, “This person, just based on what I’m witnessing, is not a nice person. It was the behind-the-scenes things that you people will never know about … trying to keep me off of red carpets, trying to make sure awards don’t go to me or she’s not going to be in attendance, or trying to get people to make bad reports about my album sales, or just anything that I’m doing to make me look less and make her look better. I have a problem. When you’re trying to stop my bag, when you’re trying to stop me from taking care of my children, now, I have a problem with that.

“We can be friends, but I will be cataloging information if nothing ever happens, I’ll never open the file cabinet. But if we do …” Remy went on to say.

Nicki Minaj released the freestyle “Dirty Money” off her Playtime Is Over mixtape in 2007, which includes the line: “Tell that bitch with the crown to run it like Chris Brown” over a beat from Terror Squad’s “Yeah Yeah Yeah.” Minaj never confirmed the rumor that she was taking shots at Remy Ma, a Terror Squad MC. Remy Ma felt the line was a personal attack and confronted Minaj at a release party.

Since her release from jail, Remy Ma has freestyled over Minaj’s “Truffle Butter” beat. She also imitated Minaj’s “Monster” verse during a cypher. Remy Ma bounced back from her hiatus without even touching a hair on Nicki Minaj’s head with Fat Joe on the 2016 summer hit “All the Way Up”

Gucci Mane’s “Make Love” and Jason Derulo’s “Swalla”, Minaj referenced her beef with Remy Ma for the first time since breaking onto the scene. Minaj threw shade talking about the numbers or lack thereof with Remy Ma’s recent album with Fat Joe.

Nicki vs. Remy could be one of the most engaging rap beefs in years because of Nicki’s fame and Remy’s notoriety, coupled with the easy “plastic pop star” vs. “gritty street siren” narrative. After Remy Ma’s “sheTHER” hit social media, the battle lines were drawn and seemingly everyone was talking about Nicki and Remy. They are discussing the track in barber shops and bars now.

Rap beefs can often be petty but certainly this is putting a spotlight on female MC’s. As Foxy Brown has release a preview of a diss track in response to Remy Ma’s sheTHER. Foxy Brown has been off the map for a while. So it seems like everyone is pulling out there best rap game for this new beef. If this is what it takes for Remy Ma and Nicki Minaj to pull out the big guns.
