The Black Community’s Toxic Obsession For Football.

(ThyBlackMan.com) It’s no secret that many of us either grew up watching football as a fan or actually played football in high school, college, or the pros.

I actually became a football fan when I was a kid back in the 1990s when I played football video games such as Madden and Tecmo Super Bowl instead of watching it on cable TV. And I still don’t football on cable TV very much to this day unlike my stepdad.

But here’s the problem: Too many of us push our sons to achieve excellence in areas that are consistent with our stereotypes (athlete being one of them) and won’t achieve them to achieving academic excellence and goals. This mentality has become very harmful to our community and it’s got to change. And the average lifespan of a pro football player only last 3 years.2016-nike-football

And another problem is that too many young brothers are psychologically brainwashed by society and mainstream media to believe that they were born for the sole purpose of entertaining caucasoids on the football field.

An example of this is a brother named Vince Young. After he won the national title at The University Of Texas, he later appeared on the cover of ESPN The Magazine and the quote said on the cover “I was born to play QB at The University Of Texas” and I felt very sorry for him because this is a type of brainwashing towards our young men that starts at an early age.

The NFL and particularly The NCAA uses our young men as economic fuel to keep their Train Of Greed rolling. Unlike The NFL, the brothas that are doing this work on the field are unpaid professional athletes because The NCAA says so. The NCAA is one of the most corrupt, egregious, and racist systems in the history of The United States because they operate in ways like constraining the wages of athletes and restricting the right for athletes to negociate their own salary, they would be declared illegal in any other industry in this country.

Then there are many former football players who have severe brain damage. I remember watching a video about a former college football player named Adrian Arrington that played for Eastern Illinois and he said he often suffers seizures, blackouts and other psychological problems from multiple concussions he took during his college career. He also said that one of his teammates told him he had gotten into a fight in a bar one night and he said he could’t remember the incident. Then he said that when he was in the workout room one day, his parents showed up and he couldn’t even recognize them and that alone is very scary not being able to even remember your own parents.

More and more mothers these days, particularly single black mothers are not allowing their kids to play football now because the awareness of the brain damage that comes from football peaked after the film “Concussion” came out last year.

The Conclusion – We need to teach our sons on how to be entrepreneurs, investors, and business owners that will give them much greater income and success.
