(ThyBlackMan.com) The lights shine down and the roars surrounds him as he dribbles across the court for his team to make a point. The audience roars its approval as the ball falls through the net at the Spectrum arena. It’s just another game in the workday for the strong, fast-paced offensive point guard. At 28, Jeremy Lin is the only Chinese/Taiwanese player in the NBA and this for a fact makes him stand out from the rest of the players in his new Brooklyn nets team.

Jeremy Lin broke into fame during his time at the New York Knicks by becoming the first NBA player with a record of at least 20 points and seven assists in each of his five starts in the 2012 season.brooklynets This catapulted him into the history books and placed him amongst the most renown professional NBA players in the world. This led to the linsanity phenomenon. In his first week starting for an NBA team, he also made headlines as the second-highest scoring player in league history over a period of four game starts.

Amidst all the success and pressures that come with it the 6-foot-3-inch player has managed to keep a low profile and balance in his life. Lin whose parents emigrated from Taiwan to the U.S. before he was born. Lin who crushed it as star of Palo Alto (Calif.) High School’s basketball team but received no Division I scholarship offers. Jeremy Lin who dominated as a guard at Harvard University but went undrafted by the NBA in 2010 and came up through its Developmental League. Many of Jeremy`s fans felt he didn’t get the respect he deserved on his way up party because of his Asian roots.

The Harvard educated Asian-American battled his way through racial stereotypes to become a shooting star. “Pretty much anything that I do, someone will talk about race,” Lin says. He condemns the general view on Asian Americans and wishes that people would treat him like any other American. But with age he has learnt to use his position in the NBA to encourage Asian Americans to overcome stereotypes and do their best.

Jeremy Lin is also a staunch Christian and as he states it “God has always shown his love for me throughout my whole life. I think if you look at my life, every bad situation, God always turns to a good situation.” He says that his focus is to honor God with his career. He believes that since he left everything to God Life in NBA has become quite easier for him despite the constant criticisms and stereotypes.

Jeremy Lin who is now in his sixth team in the NBA is hoping for a great season ahead and as he puts it “This isn’t the re-creation of Linsanity , this is, for me, just the next chapter. That’s all I’m gonna focus on. If people want to call it whatever they want to call it fine.” Jeremy Lin hopes to peak in his new team and believe he can handle the pressure at his new club.
