(ThyBlackMan.com) What was Desiigner thinking?!! Desiigner, whose real name is Sidney Selby, seems to have forgotten who he is, and where he was. Everyone knows that New York is no place to get a gun possession charge. Even veteran rappers know better…did he think he was an exception? Thursday night as Desiinger was driving into Manhattan, he got into an argument with another motorist. Allegedly he flicked his cigarette, and waived a gun, at the motorist. The driver, scared, called 911 with the license plate number of Desiigner’s Cadillac Escalade.

The rapper has been charged with gun possession, menacing, and drug possession with intent to sell. Three other men were arrested 2016-2017-rapper-desiigneralong with Desiigner. These are felony charges not to be taken lightly. Desiigner you are not invisible, but you are foolish. Mr. Panda himself, Desiigner, was just signed Kanye West’s Good Music label. He is riding the wave of his single “Panda”; this is very unfortunate as his career is just beginning.

One can only wonder if Desiigner was high as a kite; that is the only thing that might explain this level of carelessness. Truth is its obvious he knows nothing about hip hop, and its relationship to law enforcement. More importantly Desiigner is from Brooklyn, and seems to have no understanding that NYPD will make examples out of rap artists every chance they get. I wonder if Kanye West had any wise words for the up and coming artist. However, one could say he would not have listened anyway.

There is so much going on in our community right now where the law is concerned. Just because you are a rapper with some change in your pocket doesn’t make you invincible to the reality of the law, nor are you above it. Yes I said change, he is not the mulit-million dollar machine artist with a personal team of lawyers on call. No, he’s a very small fish in an ocean of predators…which is why this was astronomically stupid.

Being in the spotlight can make or break artists, and wreckless behavior should be avoided at all costs. Maybe he should encounter hip hop artist that have done prison time; all of them are not able to return to their career. Granted I must admit I am no fan of “Panda” nor any other song of his, but I do hope this is a wake up for Desiigner.
