(ThyBlackMan.comTo be in good physical health is your body working in the way that it is supposed to. But how many of us have some aches and pains or illnesses that stop our bodies from working as they should? To start with, we need to think about the factors that affect our health. One of the most important factors is our lifestyle. How we live affects our health in a massive way.

Think about your diet for example. Are you getting plenty of fruits, vegetables, vitamins, and minerals in your diet? Or are you a regular at your local takeout restaurant? They say that you are what you eat. So are you healthy or unhealthy? What we consume goes into our bodies. It can help our body to work as it should, or it can hinder our body from doing that.blackfamily-healthyliving-2017

There are certain factors that affect our health that are out of our control. Genetics can play a part, especially for something like our mental health and wellbeing. We can influence them to a degree, but we do need to take the time to make improvements. So what are some things that we can do to improve our overall health and wellbeing?

Think of your lifestyle to start with; could you be eating healthier food? Take steps to be more active in your everyday life too. Could you walk more or take the stairs instead of an elevator? Little things like this will become a habit after a while, meaning a lifestyle change. A regular exercise routine is key too. It helps to control your weight, as well as increase your fitness and strength. A healthy body is better fit to fight off disease or illness.

There are some things that you should avoid too. If you can stop smoking, for example, it will mean an improvement in your health. You will catch fewer colds and illnesses, and it will improve your long term health too. Another thing to stop is to stop having unprotected sex. The risk of catching a sexually transmitted disease is too high. These diseases can takeover your whole life and affect your health and relationships. If you think that you may have an STD, then you can get help, though. You can read more about it online, like in this article: AHSTD. Regular checkups with your doctor are important too. Then if you have something that you don’t realise you have, it can be sorted out.

Getting plenty of rest is so important when it comes to a healthy body. We can’t just run around constantly and expect our body to not have any negative side-effects. Our bodies need time to rest and repair. Sleep is the main time when this will happen. So take steps to get plenty of sleep each night. Some people need more sleep than others. But we should be aiming for around seven or eight hours per night. Then our bodies can repair and heal; key to our good health. You could read more in this article if you are unsure: HG.
