(ThyBlackMan.com) “Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.” Genesis 3:1-6

There is so much going on in this passage of Scripture. I just want to point out a few observations I have from my perspective. First off, Satan attacked Adam through his woman. Satan did not approach Adam directly. Why? Adam had an INTIMATE relationship with The Most High. They were on one accord and worked in partnership to establish The Most High’s order on earth. Adam would likely have kicked Satan to the curb had Satan stepped to him directly. So Satan approached his woman instead.  HolyBible-2016

Second, the woman engaged Satan in conversation. Why would anyone do that? It’s Satan. Don’t talk to him, don’t engage with him, don’t debate him. And if you find yourself confronted by him, stick with what the Scriptures tell you. Eventually, he will leave you alone. “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7.

Third, Satan got her to doubt what The Most High clearly said: “ye shall not surely die” and instead to put her trust in vain philosophy: “your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods”. How often do we see this being played out in our society? People give more credence to Oprah, Wayne Dyer, Tony Robbins, Madame Noire, Cosmopolitan, Bloomberg Press and Vanity Fair than they do to the Scriptures.

Fourth, Satan appealed to the woman’s lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and pride of life: “the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise”. That’s the appeal he often uses to try and seduce us to sin, namely to disobey The Most High’s commandments. He tried this same tactic on Christ. In Matthew 4:2-3, Satan appealed to the lust of the flesh:

“And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.?And when the tempter came to him, he said, if thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.”

He then appealed to the pride of life as we see in Matthew 4:2-3:

“Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, and saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee.”

Finally, we see an appeal to the lust of the eyes in Matthew 4:8-9:

“Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

We are told in 1 John 2:15-17: “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.”

Fifth and finally, when the woman fell, Adam fell.

We see these tactics being played out in our society right now by the enemies of The Most High. Satan knows that if he can get our women (the wives and mothers), he can get us (the husbands and children).

How are we to recognize when Satan is attacking us?  The answer is found in Matthew 7:15-16:

“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits.” If what you are hearing or seeing contradicts the Word, it is not of The Most High. Anyway, that’s how I see it.

I’ll end with this. “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.” Ephesians 6:10. The best way to stay strong in the Lord and in the power of His might is to know what The Most High says in His Word, and to believe it.
