The Church of Beyonce is on a new level.

(ThyBlackMan.com) Last weekend, Beyonce released her visual for Lemonade, which was accompanied by her sixth album with the same title. And as expected, the media onslaught and her fellow “Beyhive” collective went on an arms race to crown Beyonce as the greatest thing since sliced bread was invented. Which of course, annoyed all the anti-Beyonce people such as myself.

As you all know I’m not a fan of Beyonce as a superstar and it’s well documented on this site. Can she sing? Hell yes. Is she a good artist? In my opinion, yes, but that’s it. Are all of her music classic records that are timeless? Not even close. Well, I’ll give her Single Ladies and Irreplaceable. But that’s it. Thanks to the  Beyhive, they  have once again have turned their love for Beyonce into a cult-like celebratory event; literally. Everything Beyonce puts out is always “great” and she does no wrong if you were to probably poll them . If you think about that, that’s super  scary. So scary, that I’ve renamed the Beyhive to “The  members of church Beyonce”.

Does it already sound familiar? It should. Two years ago in Atlanta a group decided to have a “National Church of Bey” where they sing Beyonce-Beyhive-2016her hits every Sunday. Although it appears it was made in fun, it’s hard to think that the group wasn’t serious. And with how the  Beyhive operates when it’s time for them to let us know how they feel about their Go…I mean favorite artist, it’s almost downright believable. But here is where the real problem sets in.

Everywhere across the world, there are celebrities, athletes or entertainers that have hardcore fan bases. People swear by Kanye, Jay-Z or prince for that matter. But if you asked all three fan bases are there music that their favorite artist made that they didn’t like, I’m sure they will have a list of songs that they aren’t a fan of. Beyhive fans? Maybe not so much. They can comes off  as so blinded that they appear brainwashed. My general rule of thumb is to never put anything past anybody  or take up for grown men and women. Ever. This, regardless of their stature as a celebrity, or what’s in their bank account.

It’s okay to like a celeb or greatly admire them. But blind worship is never a healthy thing for our fellow humans to do. Hardcore Beyonce fans worry me for this reason. It’s almost like they have lost touch with reality, while losing touch with their inner self. We should never love a celeb or praise a celebrity more than we praise or love ourselves. My favorite musicians? Kanye West, Drake and Pharrell Williams/Chad Hugo aka The Neptunes.

I love them, but that doesn’t mean their music walks on water nor  are  they saints. I’m for sure they have things about them that if I met them I wouldn’t like.  BUT, that’s the difference between my like for my favorite musicians and how Bey fans like their favorite artist;  I know they are human and I appreciate the good they do in the studio. That’s it. The Beyhive may think to their fellow Beyhive members they seem sane, but to the rest of the world, it maybe time some self evaluation takes place.
