Stacey Dash: Correct, Clueless or Biased?

(ThyBlackMan.com) Alright anyone with any reasonable level of intelligence knows that FOX News ( a poor excuse for journalism) has made Stacey Dash a commentator simply because she is willing to bad mouth her own people and say what white racists really want to say themselves. But because they would be even more exposed for the racists they are, what better way to speak against African Americans than to have an African American “actress” puppet do it for you? Clearly Stacey Dash is being used but it is not likely that she has figured that out. Beyond her being CLUELESS, is there any truth to anything she has said?

Like it or not, the FOX News Dash puppet does make a few points that make sense and other points that show she lacks understanding of why certain African American institutions exist. Surely it is true that you do not fight racism with more racism any more than you fight fire with fire. You fight fire with water and you neutralize racism by force using capitalism, by academic integration invasion, by reshaping perceptions and by showing the racist that you are the exact opposite of what he or she thinks you are. Thus you do not fight racism by rioting, attacking people and exhibiting the same 2016-stacey-dash-foxnewsbehavior your oppressor exhibits. That proves nothing but that you can be just as treacherous and foolish as your adversary. You show that you are bigger than that, better than that and far above that – if in fact you actually are. That being said, if anybody on the planet had a good reason to be racist, it would be African Americans. Racism is still wrong no matter who tries to make excuses for it, justifications for it or define themselves out of it. And if we want it to stop, we have to start by stopping it in the mirror then where ever else we find it.

Stacey Dash stated (paraphrase) that we are going to keep making it about color or we are not. I agree. Every time the racist oppressor introduces race into the equation, too many African Americans introduce it right back from the other side. We cannot want them to let us in while we keep them out. That in fact is a double standard. If they had “white history month”, we would call it racist. Yet we push for “black history month”, ironically when African American history month should be every single month because our people have contributed so much to this country that honoring those contributions can neither be encapsulated nor appreciated with one month out of 12. Therefore, by settling for one month, we are simply short changing ourselves and being content with the short straw.

Many African Americans would say we need our BET, BET Awards, HBCUs, Black History Month etc. in order to get the truth out, to make sure our people are recognized and to have our children taught by our professors. But I tell you we do not have to create “our own” to be recognized if we become an essential force inside the groups and organizations that too many of us have elected to leave “white”. Then there is the issue of racism and labels. If the Caucasian community assigned labels like we do, they would be called racists. They did, they have and many of them are, but that does not mean we should go down the same low road. Furthermore, our solutions can also be found by getting inside every “white” institution or organization, rising to respected positions of leadership, remembering who we are once we get there and representing the interests of our people from the inside. Do you disagree? Let’s take a look at what is really happening with “our own” stuff.

Morehouse, Spelman and Clark Atlanta University, ours really? Yet they were set up by the Caucasian community to promote separation because segregation was coming to an end by force. Rather than have African Americans sit in “white” schools and get the same books, education, information and resources, Mister Charley was nice enough to change the name on our cage from “segregation” to separation, get us to like it, make sure it stayed overpriced and get us to fight to stay in the new box “of our own”. That was so clever that even our professors still don’t see it today.

Ironically, our African American students are coming out of private HBCUs with massive six figure debts, increasingly being taught by people who look nothing like us and under the thumb of administrators who are not African American. All of this was so covert that HBCU leaders, professors and administrators didn’t even see it coming. OUR institutions of higher learning? Really? Then why didn’t WE set them up? And if you are offended by this article because you attended, taught in or gave to an HBCU, just remember none of those actions change the facts, unfortunately. I have to wonder how many of our people fight to have “our own” while really camouflaging these things to mask feelings of inferiority. In essence, do some of us want “our own thing” because secretly or subconsciously we feel we are not good enough to be a part of the “white” establishment? Wow. I hope I am wrong.

We should learn from the Japanese. After World War II it was clear that they could not fight this country on a military level. So what did they do? They began an academic and economic invasion. Academically they integrated, attending American schools and mastering American business strategies. Then they took that knowledge and presto, American was buying everything that was made in Japan. China saw this and followed suit. Now everything from Nike to Apple is made in China.

It is time for African Americans to realize that separation does not work because separate is allowed but equal is never allowed to happen. Therefore we must move to a goal of fully integrating in order to get the same education and access the Caucasian community receives. If we do not want to allow them to have their own, we must be willing to play by the same rule we want enforced, not by a double standard. If we refuse, we stand in hypocrisy and we lose the credibility of our argument.

It is true Stacey Dash lacks a balanced perspective. There are aspects she does not understand because her family had money, even before she became a clueless actress, lol. It is also true that she fails to acknowledge that realistically, for a while, African Americans must have “our own” until those Caucasians in power are willing to tell the whole truth about history, acknowledge the contributions by African Americans and share the wealth and power in this country by allowing justice, fair and equal opportunity. If and when that ever happens, we African Americans can then simply call ourselves Americans. Until then, we run the risk of becoming like those who have oppressed our people – but that may very well be a risk we have to take. Just remember, this country is not all one color. And the sooner our people learn to succeed amongst all colors, the better.

African Americans (given the chance, the access and the opportunity) can be just as good, just as smart and just as productive as any other ethnic group. The Caucasian community knows this but the problem is that too many of our people do not. So we vote democrat so they will take care of us, hold to affirmative action because we don’t believe we can score as high as they do and accept how some other group defines us. It’s time to wake up. Do you have any idea of who you are?
