(ThyBlackMan.com) “Mrs. Clinton this investigation is about four dead Americans, not you,” asserted Chairman Trey Gowdy of the House Benghazi Special Committee during Hillary Clinton’s testimony yesterday. But quite the opposite was true. The hearing was only about Hillary and her cavalier, and their arrogant approach to the rules of American governance. That is democracy: transparency of elected officials and accountability.
While she didn’t say the words, “What difference does it make?” her body language showed it. Between smirks, smiles, smugness, and using her left hand to prop up her cheek in an expression of utter boredom, Hillary displayed her contempt for Congress – body of government with whom she would ostensibly have to work if elected president.
Hillary flippantly told Rep. Jim Jordan to read the chapter on Benghazi in her book “Hard Choices,” if he really wanted to know what she did the night the consulate was attacked.
Didn’t they understand she was running for president in 2016 and didn’t have time for this nonsense of “truth”-seeking? After all, the presidency is her right. She’s owed it. President Barack Obama stole it from her in 2008 and that won’t happen again!
The committee spent $4.7 million; reviewed 50,000 pages of documents (more than the 30,000 private emails Hillary deleted from her time as Secretary of State) but the hearing didn’t get an
y closer to the truth. Hillary’s third time testifying yielded more of the same stonewalling the public has come to expect from her. Armed with well-rehearsed “notes” that she referenced throughout, she blamed the tragedy on everyone under the sun, but herself.
“I took responsibility . . .to better protect our people,” Hillary said. What we heard was how she took responsibility to protect herself from blame. Several Congressmen asked her why over 600 requests for extra security from the Benghazi consulate were ignored. Clinton repeatedly she said she relied on “security professionals” to handle that. Another Congressman pointed out that Clinton called Ambassador Christopher Stevens who was killed her “close friend.” Yet Stevens asked Hillary Clinton 20 times for more security at the consulate to which she provided none.
She said Stevens’ security in Benghazi fell on the shoulders of “his own decisions” and “the security professionals.” Hillary Clinton also asserted that her rubber stamp signature was routinely put on cables that she never read them. And yet, Hillary wants to lead the free world as American’s first female president. While she alleges she didn’t see any of the 600 regarding security, she admits to having seen scores sent by friend (aka political hatchet-man) Sidney Blumenthal.
A State Department Accountability Review Board report conducted after the attack recommended the Secretary of State should personally review the security of all embassies and consulates. But somehow Hillary escapes accountability for her time as Secretary of State. I won’t call it leadership – but she didn’t admit to any.
Hillary turned the tables on Republicans in the court of public opinion because she didn’t say anything, and even choked up at one point describing Stevens’ death. But the moment where the liberal media will say she won was this:
“I would imagine I’ve thought more about what happened than all of you put together. I’ve lost more sleep than all of you put together. I have been racking my brain about what more could have been done, or should have been done.”
In a sincere, somber tone, Hillary Clinton added:
“I just want to get back to the good old days of government when we worked together.”
What Hillary really wants is to the get back to the days when the Clintons were in the White House. That was obvious because her performance at yesterday’s Benghazi hearing looked like an audition for the presidency – absent the much needed accountability of a commander in chief. In the end, this hearing will only drive Hillary’s poll numbers, because sadly, many Americans will follow the headlines instead of the facts.
