(ThyBlackMan.com) Though he is no more in the material world, the worth of Michael Jackson is still felt here. Sony ATV was one of the acquisitions of Michael Jackson in his lifetime. He bought it in 1985 and it remained his financial support for years. Finally it’s time for the Sony ATV to be sold to the late singer’s estate. According to a source the technical giant, Sony will either give away all its right or become the 100 owner of the same. The process of purchase and sell is currently on and what will come up next will be an outcome of what the parties think.

The Sony ATV has current worth of $2 billion. There are more than 750,000 song’s publishing rights owned by the company. The major singers that the Michael Jackson venture covers are Tailor Swift, Beatles, Rolling Stone, Marvin Gaye and more. In 1995 Jackson decided to merge his shares with Sony and from then it is a 50-50 joint venture between the two parties.

The years before the death of Michael Jackson were financially quite difficult. At that point of time, the singer was not releasing any michael-jackson-sony-music-beatles-catalog-sony-atv-rights-2015album. This was during 2007. He was just doing concerts and earing money. At that point of time Sony said that the net worth of his share was $390 million which has now increased quite a lot.

The superstar was quite big in spending and he required the assets at that point of time. While an auditor from Sony has confirmed this news, there is no confirmation from the camp of Michael Jackson.

When Michael Jackson was in deep depth in 2006 he provided Sony an option to buy his share of the venture anytime in future. According to the latest report, Sony has exercised this right last month and the company may be taking over right of the whole thing quite shortly. Though company executives did not comment on all these things, the leaked documents of Sony last year had something to reveal.

What The Leaked Documents Had To Say?

The leaked documents revealed a dubious nature of the deal which is still not explained quite well. Marshall Gelfand, the accountant of Michael Jackson has only mentioned that copyrights of the music will become more valuable with movies using more and more of them. It shall always be your last resort to get cash to sell your catalogue.
