(ThyBlackMan.com) “I told em theirs no friends in the game, you ain’t learned that yet? All the bridges you came over don’t burn that yet.” – Nicki Minaj “Pills n Potions”

Rapper Nicki Minaj, born Onika Tanya Moraj, is coming to a television station near you. ABC Family who has brought you Blackish, Pretty Little Liars and Baby Daddy recently announced that Nicki Minaj will be executive producer and actress in a scripted comedy series about her life growing up in Queens, NY.

Karey Burke, EVP Programming and Development at ABC Family stated  “Nicki Minaj is a force to be reckoned with at everything she touches.” Karey went on to say “Nicki Minaj is an international superstar, yet not everyone knows how inspiring and hilarious her true story is, and we can’t wait to share it with the world”.

I can recall back in 2010 when Nicki Minaj first hit the airwaves withnicki-minaj-2015-twitter her song ” Your Love “, a catchy tune and hook which was completely different from anything on the radio at that time. Upon seeing the video, I thought to myself, finally a creative feminine presence who isn’t afraid to think outside the box. The follow-up ” Moment 4 life ” with label mate Drake perhaps sealed the deal for me.

Nicki Minaj begins her verse stating “I fly with the stars in the skies, I am no longer trying to survive. I believe that life is a prize but to live doesn’t mean you’re alive”. Well said Nicki!! I can’t remember how long it took for me to get over to Drake’s verse because Nicki Minaj in that moment was truly ‘giving me life’.

Fast forward to the present days of stupid hoes who Nicki boasts ” put me on a dollar cus I’m who they trust in ” and of course the raunchy release of Anaconda in which Minaj states “I’m high as hell I only took a half a pill, I’m on some dumbshit”.

You see for myself hip hop is a culture, it’s the revolution televized. Hop hop is what you wear, your swag, your thoughts, your beliefs. If I had to sum up hop hop in one word it would certainly be a ” message “.

While I am proud of the success Nicki Minaj, the young Queens native, has received in the game, I do wonder what “ message ” this sitcom will be sending to families.

In a time where young black girls struggle with sisterhood, their identity and the constant rise of sexually transmitted diseases, we must question if seeing the self proclaimed barbie who made many women comfortable with the notion of being bisexual, although Minaj herself was in a long-term relationship with a male partner, is going to inspire greatness or misled families into thinking Minaj’s life and lyrics are a laughing matter.

What are your thoughts? Do you think “greatness” is still what Nicki is on the brink of?

Nicki Minaj her voice is kinda cool. Starships best track on ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’ album (song lyrics http://lyricsmusic.name/nicki-minaj-lyrics/pink-friday-roman-reloaded/starships.html).

To GDTD, are you a zombie? Look at what Nikki Minaj displays. She does exactly what she is told to do because she is an illuminati puppet. Do a little real research. She is a blow up doll whore. They built Nikki with spare parts and butt fillers and our people run to the stage like dogs.
She has a fake butt, fake accent and does not even claim to be “black” when asked. Nikki has 15 confirmed alter egos and these are demons, not egos. At best, she would have multiple personality disorder. WAKE UP PEOPLE
If you know how the illuminati works, you would know why she is full of demons and just a puppet.

I hope all of our people see how the world laughs at our people when we put ignorant, materialistic whores out front like Nikki Minaj. She raps very well but what she says is the problem. She devalues and degrades women by presenting herself as an illuminati possessed who, schizophrenic with no real identity. What does this show our daughters? How to be a woman? No. How to be lady-like? No. How to get money by degrading yourself? Yes. She is not an example for our daughters and anybody who thinks she is an example is just as lost as Nikki is. The Jewish white community owns the music industry and they are using puppets like her to dumb our people down. Wake up

Maraj is no laughing matter on any level. How does one find humor in the fact her father attempted to burn down the family home? This has disaster written all over it. What a sad development.

Yes, given this article exists chronicling how female emcees constantly changed their stance on what they thought Feminism meant for Black women in Hip-Hop, which is often shunned by males from around the world in both a racist and sexist ethos, usually at the same time.

I found this brilliant as this highlighted how Nicki contrary to popular belief, is more positive, independent and impacting than pretty much any other female in the previous decade.
Her sexuality isn’t even discussed in this piece on Rap Genius, everything but that aspect of her womanhood was explained in depth. I was not a fan of her until I read that, and got a completely new perspective on her as an individual and respectable Black woman.
