(ThyBlackMan.com) How many times have you heard it said that “Donald Trump will not be the Republican nominee.” Like a mantra it is repeated over and over by reporters, commentators, and talking head of every stripe, be they Republican or Democrat, or liberal or conservative talk show host or political observer. No matter their differences, they are all united in their firmly expressed conviction that Donald Trump cannot win the Republican nomination. First they said he would not run, then  they said that he would soon flame out, and so forth and so on, but the man keeps rising steadily in the polls.

You would think that at least one observer would state the obvious. Donald Trump is riding a runaway train to the nomination!donaldtrump-presidential-run-2015

Yes, he is at 30% in the polls, say the pundits, but his ceiling is not much higher than that, and watch what happens when people start dropping out of the race. Their support will coalesce around one of the others. Is that right? Which one of the pretty anemic others? And why wouldn’t some, if not much, of the support of candidates who leave the race not accrue to Donald Trump?

Have you heard this riddle?  What happens if an unstoppable force meets an immovable object? Well we are about to find out. Trump is unstoppable and the establishment is immovable in its flat out opposition to his candidacy. Yes, Trump is a charlatan, a shameless self-promoter. He says just what the people want to hear, and his policies if carried out would prove disastrous. But how much different is he from the others? Don’t all politicians say one thing and then once in office do another?

Yes, but his promises are so outlandish, so far from the narrow band of choices that the establishment will allow whomever is elected to choose from, that Trump badly frightens those at the top. Few of the big moneyed interests would even think of supporting him. But he doesn’t need them. And that is precisely why they fear him. They do not know what he will or will not do. And so the establishment is unified in ordering all whom they control to utter the hopefully self-fulfilling prophecy that he will not win the nomination. There is only one problem. Looks like nothing came stop him. Stay tuned. We are about to find out exactly what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object.
