(ThyBlackMan.com) I speak at DePaul University tomorrow. They have a marketing class that wants to know how we were able to get Mountain Dew to cancel their sponsorship of Lil Wayne’s world tour last year. I hated the idea of taking money out of the hands of another black man, but my actions were guided by the simple fact that I love our kids more than I can ever love any celebrity.

So, despite the fact that I lost a few powerful friends in the process (I had rappers calling me a hater, an Uncle Tom and all kinds of other silly stuff), I would do it all again in a second.Lil Wayne Arrives In Court For Weapon Charges

We can’t keep letting mass media feed poison to our children and somehow think they’re going to be OK. Too many otherwise great black children have had their futures ruined with weaponized psychological genocide that encourages the mass consumption of drugs and alcohol, sexual irresponsibility, financial gluttony/excess materialism, and the glorification of violence.

The effects in our communities are real, and I agree with Min. Farrakhan at our New Paradigm forum, who said that a segment of our community is effectively dead and rotting to their spiritual core.

As good stewards of our community, it is our obligation to crush those who threaten our children. That is a simple fact and I won’t back away from it. We must also remember that sometimes, our greatest enemies to progress just might happen to be BLACK.
