(ThyBlackMan.com) Zayn Javadd Malik simply known by his stage name as Zayn Malik, is a member of the popular British boy band the One Direction. The young star was born on January 12, the year 1993 in Bradford, England. He is of English-Pakistani ancestry. From an early age, Zayn displayed love for singing and performing, and at just the age of 17, he competed in The X Factor, a television singing competition show. He did not make it to the final round but was paired with for other contestants in the show, who later formed One Direction.
Childhood years and growing up
As aforementioned, Zayn was born on 12th January 1993 to parents Yaser Malik and Patricia Malik. His father is of Pakistani origin and his mother is English. He is the second born of four siblings. He has one older sister 
called Doniya and two younger sisters called Waliyha and Safaa. His family practices the Muslim faith. Zayn Malik grew up in East Bowling, south of Bradford city centre. He went to Lower Fields Primary School and then later to Tong High School both located in Bradford. He took performing arts courses as a teenager and appeared in numerous school productions.
Life at The X Factor
In 2010, at the young age of 17, Zayn Malik travelled to Manchester to audition for the seventh season of the reality-television singing competition series The X Factor. At his first audition, he sang ‘Let Me Love you’ by the RNB singer Mario, and passed through to the next round of auditions with no problems. Unfortunately, he was eliminated before the final round of auditions, but the Judges Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger grouped him with four other fellow contestants to form a new act for the show. This act later came to be One Direction. The group finished third in the competition, and shortly afterwards was signed to Syco music label owned by Cowell.
Romance and dating life
Many fans consider Malik to be the “bad boy” of One Direction because of his numerous tattoos, mischievous behaviour, and his dyed, weird hairstyle. He has dated Rebecca Ferguson who was a fellow contestant in The X Factor, and Geneva Lane of Belle Amie, the girl group. In December 2011, Zayn began dating Perrie Edwards, a member of the less famous girl group called Little Mix. In August of 2013, the couple announced that they were engaged.
