The musician that is Wiz Khalifa is what modern art theorists would call a wizard in that he was good at everything he did since he was a child. In fact, his stage name is derived from the word “wiz” and his grandfather gave his Muslim name Khalifa, which means successor and wisdom, to him. His official name is Cameron Jibril Thomaz and he was born in 1987 in North Dakota. He has been quoted as saying Jimi Hendrix, Notorious BIG and Bone Thugs N Harmony have been a great influence in his life.

In 2005, Wiz Khalifa had the first interaction with a professional signing company, which turned out to be Rostrum Records. The labels president heard of him and when he sampled his work knew that Wiz Khalifa was a diamond that when well-polished, will be a great artiste and that is exactly what he did and the road to stardom was laid. He released a mixtape and later released a full 
blown album named “Show and prove” in 2006.
Between 2007 and 2009, Wiz Khalifa saw immense growth as an artist and released multiple mixtapes under the Warner Brothers label with songs like “Say yeah” reaching top 25 on the billboard charts. Between 2009 and 2010, again Wiz Khalifa gained immense popularity due to his music. During this time, it was rumored that he was signed by the Atlantic records group. He was by this time selling out concerts and enjoying the fruits of his labor and laughing all the way to the bank.
In 2010, he released the single “Black And Yellow” which received a lot of airplay and debuted at number one on the Billboard 100 charts. The colors stand for the Pittsburgh city official colors. In 2011, under the Rostrum- Atlantic deal, Wiz Khalifa released his first studio album “Rolling papers” which in its first week sold over 190,000 copies in the US alone. The following year he released his second album, which also had considerable sales and debuted at number two same as his initial album. Blacc Hollywood is the title of Wiz Khalifa’s album for 2013.

In March 2011, Wiz Khalifa started dating model Amber Rose and they got engaged in 2012. In February 2013, they welcomed their first child, a son, Sebastian Taylor Thomaz. They got married in July of 2013. Wiz Khalifa is an ardent supporter of all sports teams of the city of Pittsburgh. The city council of Pittsburgh declared the 12th day of December 2012 as Wiz Khalifa day in honor of the great patriot of their city.
Wiz Khalifa has been nominated and won multiple awards including best new artist in 2011, top new artist in 2012 among others. He has worked with other top artistes notably Snoop Dogg, 50 cent and Maroon 5.
