(ThyBlackMan.com)  Not that I’m a big follower of the rapper Eminem, but I’ve been wondering what he’s been up to lately. I haven’t seen his face all up in the place much.  Maybe it’s just me. But lo and behold a couple of days ago I ran across a few things on the wide world web taking those thoughts away.

Just the other day Marshall Bruce Mathers III, also known as Eminem to most of us is letting the world know that he is not from a trailer park. Yep right now this is the thorn in his side. Apparently folks are talking and saying that Eminem is from a trailer park and obviously he’s not too excited. eminem2012

Eminem aka Mr. Slim Shady is asking “why does everyone think I’m from a fu**ing trailer park? Why can I not break that stereotype?”
Well let’s take a look.

Eminem has collaborated with the rapper and singer-songwriter Skylar Grey who has released a sneak peak of their upcoming collaboration on YouTube.  C’mon Let Me Ride is the debut single from Skylar Grey’s upcoming album Don’t Look Down, which Eminem is the executive producer. The music video is shot in a trailer park in Michigan and features Grey and Eminem hanging out with local folks from the neighborhood trailer park.

This is not the first time that Eminem been filmed in a trailer park scene. If I recall in the movie Eight Mile he theatrically showcased his life showing him and his mother living in a trailer park.

Now maybe I’m missing something but, if you make videos and especially movies documenting your life showing you living in a trailer park don’t you think others might make the assumption that you have experienced living in a trailer park?

“I’ve lived in them, many of them, for years. But that doesn’t mean I’m from a trailer park.” Okay now I ask what’s the difference. Even with the clip featuring a few trailer park locations Eminem is still wondering why people would associate him with trailer parks.

Not that I’m knocking it, but if you have lived in a trailer park, I think people would get the impression that you came from that type of background.  I guess it’s kind of like some rappers that talk about living in the hood, but really grew up in a middle class or upper class neighborhood and attended a private school. If that’s what you sing about some folks are going to assume that’s who you are.

To Eminem, I say this to you. Embrace your pass. Don’t be embarrassed of where you’ve come from.  Remember your pass does not dictate your future.

The full video was released on December 11th  via YouTube.
