(ThyBlackMan.com) American Idol is a staple in American culture (why???) and the show has shelled out some great stars today including Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Fantasia. I have never really liked the show because of Simon. His attitude just made me want to go through the television screen and choke him. Well now, I want to do the same thing –even though I have not watched an episode since the show began.
American Idol has hired a couple of women with accolades behind their names. Mariah Carey is the pop-hip-hop-opera diva and Niki Minaj is the circus-hip-hop-plastic chic. The show has not debuted the new season yet and 
these two are already going at it with each other. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when they got into it two weeks ago. According to Mariah Carey… Niki Minaj stated that she was going to shoot her on the set of their first taping at the American Idol debut for their new season. This chic called Barbara Walters and then pulled the race card. Now, I have no idea what happened between the two of them –really.
I did get a chance to see them via a YouTube video and all I heard was Nicki Minaj going off on Mariah Carey and every word that came out of her mouth was a curse word. I really believe she needs to be in the circus. She sounds like she has nasal problems when she talks.
Mariah Carey is a diva to the unteempth power and I know she is not an angel in this fiasco. One thing that I can say about Nicki Minaj is that she should most definitely calm down –Maria Carey does have the discography to act like a diva (though I do not own one able by the woman). However, there is a good and a bad definition of the word diva in my opinion. I think Mariah is overrated just like this mess.
In the back of my mind I feel like the American Idol foundation is built upon drama. There has not been one season where you have heard positive feedback regarding the show. And, with the drama that is ensuing with Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj it looks like the show is not shunning any of the hoopla that has made it a staple in pop-culture. They need all of the attention.
Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj both need to sit their old azzez down somewhere and grow up. Point noted, I hope.
