(ThyBlackMan.com) Now days Rihanna’s cup seems to be overflowing with project after project. Like many female singing artist Rihanna has tried her hand at acting. Her first film role was in the film Bring It On: All of Nothing in August 2006. Rihanna is now starring in the action sci-fi flick Battleship. Battleship is scheduled to be released this May of 2012.
The movie Battleship is based on the classic children’s game by Hasbro. The film was directed by Peter Berg and will be released by Universal Pictures. Battleship stars Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgård, Brooklyn Decker, Liam Neeson and Rihanna. Rihanna plays Petty Officer Raikes.
Rihanna was born Robyn Rihanna Fenty on February 20th, 1988, in Saint Michael, Barbados, where she spent the majority of her childhood. At the age of 15 while singing with a girls group Rihanna was discovered by veteran producer Evan Rogers. Rihanna has worked with the likes of Sean Paul, 
Timberland, will.i.am and Sean Garrett. Rihanna has also toured with Jay-Z’s Rock the Block Tour, The Pussycat Dolls and The Glow in the Dark Tour with Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, and N.E.R.D.
With a number of music awards, movie credits and six albums under her belt Rihanna is not doing too badly for such a young woman. She has seen her share of ups and downs surrounding the Chris Brown abuse episode. But with that behind her Rihanna has continued to wow her audiences.
After the success of six albums Rihanna is still satisfying her hungry fans. Robyn Fenty the little girl from Barbados is now the record breaking musical artist, simply known as Rihanna. Rihanna has gained fans here in the states and internationally.
Even with her fan base loving her, Clay Aikens (American Idol contestant) and Gene Simmons (from the group KISS) are not impressed with her vocal abilities. Really? Gene Simmons of all people. I am sure Rihanna is not losing sleep over that one. According to Starplus Clay was on Bravo’s Watch What Happens. The show’s host Andy Cohen asked the American Idol runner-up which pop star wouldn’t make it past the first few rounds on the competition
Well go figure. I am not too sure their comments will make or break Rihanna’s career and this has not slowed her down one bit. Since coming on the scene in 2005 and with the breakout of her first album A Girl Like Me in 2006 Rihanna has been on a steady climb ever since. Rihanna’s freshmen album reached number five on the Billboard and was certified platinum.
With Battleship scheduled for release in May 2012 and some other things, Rihanna’s plate is full. Her fans are eagerly anticipating the release of the upcoming video Take Care with her and longtime rumored beau, the rapper Drake.
According to The Huffingtonpost Rihanna has a number of irons in the fire as she prepares for the recording of her next album. Also at the time of this posting Rihanna denied rumors of being a new judge for the show the X Factor.
Rihanna has been in the game for a few years and is still hanging with the best of them and with movies and more recordings in the works it seems that Rihanna will be around for a while.
