(ThyBlackMan.com) Flashback to February 2009, R&B singer Chris Brown was arrested by theLos Angelespolice for allegedly beating up a woman.  Insiders identified the victim as his then superstar girlfriend Rihanna.

Three years later and it is now rumored that Rihanna and Chris Brown are back together again however, this time for different reasons. The two have gone back into the studio for a musical collaboration.

Chris Brown can be heard on Rihanna’s Birthday Cake remix and she on Brown’s remix of Turn Up the Music. Some are excited about this reunion, while others are outraged. Many people are disappointed that Rihanna is involved with Chris Brown once again after she was physically abused at the  hands of him back in 2009.  Rihanna has been criticized for not being a good role model to her young, female fans.  Brown is no longer viewed in the best light either.

Even though there are many that don’t approve of Chris Brown’s and Rihanna’s relationship, obviously some Twitter and Facebook follower’s think differently. Rihanna and controversial Chris Brown saw an increase in fans as measured by their rankings on the Billboard Social 50 chart. The Billboard Social 50 Chart uses a combination of data between YouTube, Facebook, VEVO, Twitter, MySpace and iLike to calculate an artist’s popularity online. The music site reports that Rihanna moved up from the 4th spot to 3rd, while Brown vaulted from 10th place to 5th.

Even celebrities and counselors are offering their input on the Chris Brown and Rihanna drama. At the 2nd World Conference of Women’s Shelters in Washington, D.C.on February 28th, Reese Witherspoon, the Global Ambassador for the Avon Foundation explained how important it has been to educate her two children about the pop stars to whom they love to listen to, reported by People Magazine.

“My daughter knows what happened. My son knows as well,” Reese, 35, said about the Chris and Rihanna situation. “We talk about what is abuse. I think it’s important to talk to our daughters and our sons in order to educate them at an early age about what’s appropriate and what is absolutely not acceptable.”

Rita Smith the executive director of the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence says, “It’s very common for an abused woman to try again. Most of them love their abusers and want that person to have changed.”

Now I agree with many others that Chris Brown was wrong for putting his hands on Rihanna and yes Rihanna is in the public eye of young and impressionable girls.  But does this mean that the public has a right to criticize Rihanna and Chris’ decision to reconcile their differences?  Should we scream foul and refuse to support Chris Brown and Rihanna in order to protect and educate our children so they will not find themselves in the same situation by refusing to support Chris Brown and Rihanna.

The bigger question is has Rihanna learned from this violent experience? Has Chris Brown learned his lesson?  Has he changed and is his view of domestic violence any different today than it was two years ago? Or will he lose his temper again?  Has Rihanna simply forgiven him with no plans on becoming involved with him again? Is Chris Brown’s and Rihanna’s musical collaboration strictly business or a love reconnection?

In due time I am sure though, we all will see what happens with the Chris Brown and Rihanna Saga.  Stay tuned.
