(ThyBlackMan.com) Three things we learned from Kobe Bryant’s divorce that we can take with us.

Recently, it has been announced that Kobe Bryant and Vanessa Bryant have filed for divorce and just scored a mega deal that even athletes and entertainers wish they could achieve. Vanessa now will take 75 million dollars (half of his estate) and also take their house, their new one, and even one for her mother. While we can note that maybe Vanessa was just another woman who smartly didn’t sign a prenuptial  agreement and was waiting on the day so that she could have her own (well, his) money.

We must also remember that Kobe Bryant also cheated on her allegedly with over 105 women. I have no clue how she estimated that number, but that’s beside the point. There are lessons that we as adults can pick up out of this situation. Here are three points

1Take your time.

When Kobe Bryant met Vanessa in November 1999, she was 17 and he was only 21. In 2001 in April, the then 22 year old Kobe Bryant decided to marry young Vanessa in whom Bryant estranged his parents for two years because they felt he was too young and opposed the marriage. I remember my boy @Catf1sh said on twitter “that anybody at a video shoot is not marriage material.” He’s right on that, and when you examine the relationship (from the Colorado incident to the alleged 105 women) that one, he didn’t really think she was wife material and two; evidently he never was ready to settle down. There are some women out here who can have a 22 year old around her finger, and can make him prepare to settle down. Vanessa wasn’t that, because he still wanted to be a bachelor. Can’t have a wife at home then try to live the bachelor life. So we all should remember to take our time, enjoy our twenties, and that not everything that glitters is gold.

2. Men, don’t think you won’t get caught.

Even if Kobe Byrant wasn’t really ready to settle down, having 105 women that you had affairs with is unacceptable. Ms. Bryant didn’t deserve that treatment, at all, and in turn Kobe has to overturn half of his estate. The problem that occurs often is that we as men will do some of the slyest things and expect for our women to always be there and take us back. Can you imagine all of the times she confronted him but couldn’t muster the courage to finally leave? No woman deserves that kind of hurt, even though there are times the cheating is inflicted by them. Kobe’s extra bachelor life came to an abrupt end, and now he’s losing half of his fortune.

3. Divorce will always hit hard.

It doesn’t matter if you are rich or middle class, divorce will take an insurmountable on you and your former spouse. Vanessa will walk away richer but she will no longer have her husband of ten years. Kobe Byrant takes the biggest hit. His extra-marital flaws exposed, half of his bank account and his houses are gone, now the question is, will he going to enjoy his ACTUAL single life? Also take in that the former couple has children together, so now they won’t be with both parents any longer. Both may have played a role in this, and now their lives are changed forever.
