Newt Gingrich Open Marriage…

(ThyBlackMan.com) When it comes to Republicans running for president, the only thing worse than a nasty mistress is a disgruntled ex-wife.  Newt Gingrich knows this very well, as his second (not first) ex-wife recently told ABC News that Newt Gingrich is not exactly the kind of family values man that America seeks when it comes to the presidency.   Marianne Gingrich, who says she is also a conservative, laid out Newt’s past for all to see, even admitting that he once sought to have an open marriage.

The former Mrs. Gingrich says that Newt wanted to have both a mistress and a wife after admitting to having a six-year affair with a Congressional aide.   The other woman, Callista, was the woman that Newt wanted his wife to share him with.  He is now married to the aide.

And I just stared at him and he said, ‘Callista doesn’t care what I do,’” Marianne Gingrich told ABC News. “He wanted an open marriage and I refused.”

Marianne says that Newt had his affair “in my bedroom in our apartment in Washington.”

He always called me at night,” she recalled, “and always ended with ‘I love you.’ Well, she was listening.”

Marianne says that these incidents took place while Newt Gingrich attacked President Clinton for his lack of moral leadership.  Making matters even more interesting, his former wife says that Newt Gingrich sought out a divorce a few months after she’d been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.

He also was advised by the doctor when I was sitting there that I was not to be under stress. He knew,” she said.

Newt had also left his first wife, Jackie, while she was being treated for cancer.  He began his relationship with Marianne while he was married to Jackie, and married her shortly thereafter.

If you’re wondering what that “bang, bang, bang” sound happens to be, it’s the nail being hammered into Newt Gingrich’s presidential coffin.  Newt Gingrich’s odds of being president are about the same as the odds of him becoming president of the New Black Panther Party.  There is no way Republicans can continue their (false) alignment with family values and elect a man for president who’s been accused of treating his family so horribly in the past.

Republicans can forgive a man for womanizing or committing adultery.  They can also forgive him for divorce.  But Newt Gingrich stretched his morality rope further than even the worst Republican candidates by getting multiple divorces, having numerous affairs and treating his wives even worse than he would like to treat black people.  It’s been made public and clear:  Newt Gingrich is, quite simply, an incredibly ugly human being.

What I love about the candidacy of Newt Gingrich, however, is that if he were the Republican nominee for president, it would serve as a definitive reminder of the most deeply-embedded hypocrisy of the party.  Many Republicans preach family values during the day, and hang with their mistresses at night.  They attack the gay community when the lights are on, and call their boyfriends when their wives are asleep.  They wag the finger of collective self-righteousness at the rest of us while simultaneously robbing America, stepping on the poor and doing all they can to destroy they country.  They seem to have learned, quite simply, that it’s easier to pretend to be perfect than to confront the flaws that make us all human.

Newt Gingrich happens to be the worst of the worst, but there’s a reason he’s leader of the pack.  The truth is that while Newt Gingrich can certainly be attacked for his poor choices and selfish behavior, many of his colleagues are no better than him.
