Many thanks for talking about “that which is unspoken of”.

One of the biggest road blocks to helping male victims of violence is the old idea that domestic violence is “something men do to women” that a lot of people simply refuse to let go of. Its entirely possible to talk about the numbers on abuse victims without using them to silence victims who happen to be a part of the numerical minority.

No one talks about it because it’s a very scary and uncomfortable topic. I wrestled for months deciding rather I would write on the subject or not. Sister thank you very much. I hope someone gained something from the article.

Another topic that is never discussed is the real “rape culture” that exist in prison. Rape advocates never speak about the 100’s of thousands of men that are raped in prison every year because mens suffering is invisible to the world we live in.

Thank you so much for this article! My uncle was the victim of years of abuse perpetrated against him by his wife of thirty years. This eventually resulted in his death by a stab wound to his lower abdomen. It is time to pivot away from the notion of aggression and violence as an inherent male trait when statistics on child abuse and intimate partner violence suggest otherwise.
