(ThyBlackMan.com) Chris Brown is an interesting artist. Yes, we all know the story about his fiasco with ex-girlfriend, Rihanna. However, I want to go deeper. I want to actually see something good come of this young man’s career. I was in a relationship with an individual who was abusive. I forgave him, every time, he said, “I’m sorry.”  The one thing that he did not do after apologizing was to put action behind his omission. He chose not get help for his condition: Anger Management. There are many African-American males and females who are angry with life. It can attribute to many different causes. In reports pertaining to Chris Brown’s break-up with Rihanna, it was also acknowledged that she hit him too. Chris Brown made the wrong choice, in the heat of the moment, and regrettably so is paying a heavy price for it. I still  believe in change. I watched his latest performance on the VMA’s 2011  broadcast on “MTV,” and was caught-off guard.

I think Michael Jackson would have been proud of my revelation. I witnessed a young man who flew up in the sky, came down again, and flew back up in the sky and came down again. This is a remix—in writing. Chris Brown danced to some 91’ Wu Tang [with a white-suit on, while team breezy wore hip-hop gear], and rocked 93’ Nirvana. As a music connoisseur, I was totally impressed with Brown’s performance; Michael Jackson came to my mind again. Michael was smooth at what he did, but this kid has something else: Creative Acrobatics. Chris Brown commands your attention—regardless if you like him or not. Yes, this is still the same young man, who hit Rihanna. I don’t take it lightly that this occurred, but I believe that everyone deserves a chance to redeem themselves, if they get help. Chris Brown pushed the envelope and sang/danced to one of the best songs I have heard in the 21st century: “Beautiful People,” off of his latest album, during his performance.

In interviews with several magazines, Chris Brown stated that his 4th album, “F.A.M.E,” would stand for Forgiving All My Enemies, but had an epiphany renaming it Fans Are My Everything. Yes, it was probably a publicity stunt. However, what I am starting to see is that every time that he does something that doesn’t make sense [to him], he speaks on it. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t that what you are supposed to do; revert to what is right, versus wrong? I’m just saying…The young man is doing a good job of not making excuses for his behavior, and he still does have a lot of growing to do. Yes, this is the same young man who had a temper tantrum at ABC Studios after being interviewed by Robin Roberts. I am not vindicating his actions, but have you ever had a temper tantrum–I have. I’m also guilty of continuously giving people chances too.

When I listened to Chris Brown’s latest album, “F.A.M.E,” I visualized real music, and came to the conclusion that he will be an icon. Yes, I did say that. There is no one in the entertainment industry that can hang with this young man’s creative abilities in singing, rapping, and dancing. Not since Michael Jackson, has a male artist [including Usher] captivated the stage in which Chris Brown has in such a short time. And no, I did not forget about his word war on Twitter with producer/artist, Frank Ocean–Boys will be Boys. Now let’s be truthful, we all thought that this young man would be back in the news for abusing another female. Yet, that has not happened. I think therapy may just be helping this young man. I can’t say on record if he goes to the office regularly, but something is different about Chris Brown. In all honesty, after listening to the album, Chris Brown has released the past and is heading towards the future. In order to heal, and not continuously be ridiculed sometimes you have to delve into your creativity. When I look at Chris Brown today, this is what I see. I have witnessed a young man express all that he has been through—through his music. This is what we want in music; this is what makes a great artist.

In order to be creative, have a message and it transcend through culture is by experience. Michael Jackson was a cultural icon for this very reason. He was not perfect either. I never once in my life thought that he was on drugs, but he was. I still believe he was a great man despite his shortcomings. Why has our own community decided it was okay to down a young man for his failures, and dismiss the destructive behavior that his former girlfriend has shown in the media? We have a lot to think about and refigure when it comes to blasting individuals and not looking at our own lives. There has to come a time when we don’t celebrate the individual, but the talent. Celebrities for generations have been made out to be role-models, with no room for failure. This is one thing that everyone has to understand about life; we will all underachieve at something. What makes a great individual an icon, is rising to the occasion in face of adversity. If you had not heard Chris Brown’s track, “I Can Transform Ya,” then perhaps you should.

I got a feeling that he is going to be the next…

I disagree. No one wants to hear his wack autotune music. Of course, you’re entitled to your opinion seeing as though you are indeed infatuated with this ignorant punk. MJ is one of the greats, so stop making like Chris Brown is the next one, because at the end of the day, you reason to make indefinite excuses for him are probably the reasons why his behavior is atrocious. Michael Jackson had his legal problems but still maintain his talent, and generosity to the world. In the end, Michael is still Michael at the end of the day. Chris Brown, on the other hand is another entitled pop singer wannabe that plays the victim when he’s acting out on impulse, also he only has aspirations for money, fame, and girls. Whomever wrote this tripe of an article is probably another thirsty fan of Chris Brown looking for attention no matter who gives it to her. To me, Chris lost credibility as an artist and became a lost cause. His mother failed him, his father failed him, his fans failed him, everyone defending him or make excuses for his wanton behavior failed him.
Besides, who told him to throw a chair at Good Morning America, possibly a PR stunt to sell his crappy album? Who told him to instigates fights with other people acting out on impulse?
And the most disgusting of all, he brags about losing his virginity at age 8, only, it’s not called losing your virginity, it’s called rape, child abuse and it’s wrong.
Something is wrong with Chris no matter how talented you claim he is. Sorry but with this article, you missed me with this blasphemy.

I would like to thank the person who wrote this article because I have read so many comments about hating Chris Brown, but we all know he snapped for a reason. I don’t approve of the way he handled, but I have always wander what brought the incident on. I am a 56 year old woman and I have one son that is 18 years old and I tell him not to hit a woman to walk away. But I have saw so many young girls or women hitting on a young man and then tell him if he hit her, she will call the police on him. The young man tried to walk away but she follows him and continue to hit him and keep doing it as he try to leave. The young ladies know what button to push and how to control him, but what she don,t realize is one of these time he will hit back. God bless Chris Brown and his recovery. Chris to get better you have to let go of the past, and love yourself and move on.

Bless TBM. Bless Keeton. Bless the Bajan. Bless Great Music. Bless Chris Brown.

  4. oldscool says:

Love it God Bless you Chris

And why can’t someone write an decent article on Chris Brown, the bloggers and media don’t have a problem writing daily mess on him. This is still America where we have freedom of speech, regardless if you like the aricle or dislike it, were all still entitled to our own opinion. You don’t have to like mine and don’t have to like your’s but, I still shouldn’t have to be made to sound like a fool or stan because of MY opinion of him on the article. Chris Brown I feel he will be one of our great entertainer’s, MJ seen something in him too. He’s young still maturing at 22 years old. He has a lot to offer the industry, he can sing, dance, act, write and produce.

  6. melody says:

This article is brilliant. I love this young this young talent man. To the article before me please read the article carefully it said many not all

  7. chelly says:

There is more to MJ’s genius than just dancing and music videos if only my generation could see that. Stop comparing people to mj based on dancing.

  8. chelly says:

Really I think you are just a prisoner of the moment, Usher is the closes thing to MJ. Chris can’t sing as good as Usher and singing is just as important as dancing. Check this out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fn-xOyyMBoA&feature=related Usher 2004 closes to MJ.

  9. 100% Amazing says:

You know, I don’t even know why people keep talking about giving a 2nd chances, what happened to the 1st one? was it based on the eventuality of his relationship of comportment? i would imagine that he got his chance based on his talent and the talent hasn’t gone anywhere its even better. I don’t like artist based on the success/ failures of their personal relationships e.g who is MJ’s wife?

Michael Jackson started sing from 5 years old up till 50 years when he died, his skills and experience isn’t is obviously greater than Chris brown’s since he is only 22 years old and has only been in the game for 6-7 years 2 of which he suffered the aftermath of a wrong choice of girlfriend. Chris still has alot to prove and a long way to go as an artist so let him take his time.

All we are saying is that, If MJ had a son to take after his legacy and creativity, well brown is definitely a candidate cos he is just as creative or very close. His VMA show is just one of his many outstanding performances. I listened again to FAME and i saw that he isn’t trying to copy MJ like alot of people try to, but he strives to be as excellent as he was.

About his over-publicised one sided break up with RiRi where according to the media, he just went crazy and began to punch the girl in the passenger’s seat unprovoked => NO SENSIBLE PERSON BOUGHT THAT STORY however, we rebuke Chris for his part in this story & letting his emotion get the best of him that much. Glad he didn’t contest the story; he just accepted his punishment like a man, and sort “help” which i still think is totally unnecessary=> He knew right away what he has done and what he needed to do. He didn’t need to pay some dude or woman in suit to tell him that.

Chris is not interested in pointing fingers, he just wants his life to return to b4 he met this strange girl. Jay Z knew that Rihanna wasn’t the sharpest knife in the kitchen, he should thank Chris for helping him become one of the wealthiest men in entertainment. Rihanna’s career suddenly blossomed from that 2009 incident. Even women that don’t speak English or like her music bought the album in sympathy for the so called abuse. She even fabricated more stories to just make money without a fear in the world. Rihanna was going no-where with that kind of talent as a black woman in this industry thats why she milked this incident.

No one told Rihanna not to fight with a boy or hit a man?! well hopefully she knows why now. Why could she wait till after the awards to bring her issues up? I heard its not the 1st time she’d attack Chris. I am sure Chris’s situation would teach alot of young men to be careful with women, like Beyonce said “girls run this world” so you’d better not touch one of them cos they can effortlessly turn the entire world against you. Their population is already more than men, not they have the gay men on their side.

Anyways, Chris is out of that her insecure situation now and he is at peace with his new girlfriend who represents stability in his life. Although i still think he is too young to have a stable girl friend cos he can’t still understand what love is about yet but he seems to be devoted & thats what is important right now for his image. Chris is handsome and talented, sky is his limit.

His Album FAME is amazing yet his use of very few auto-tune really complemented its creativity. If Nicky, Tpain or Lil wayne use auto-tune we’d understand that its because they can’t sing but who doesnt know Chris is a super singer? Look at his duet with, Joelle James, Jordan Sparks, Keri Hilson, Seven etc even his songs are used on Xfactor. We all, i mean every one on the planet knows Chris is an amazing singer just look at “CHAMPION” with chipmunk, where was the auto tune?, Deuces, NO Bs, Wet the bed, Next to you, All back, infact the entire album was almost auto-tune free so i still dont understand why some immature people choose to lie.

This article was brilliant, God bless the author and we hope to see more of sincere and hate free articles like this. I am sure you got more hits off this articles than the previous hateful and hypocritical articles by ignorant & malicious authors on this site.

I know people like to persecute extra ordinary people like Chris till they die and suddenly change their tone and remember his good deeds when his dead. MJ was never appreciated or respected as much as now that he is dead & so was Amy Winehouse, even Jesus Chris! whats wrong with people respecting them while they are still alive? MJ was dragged in and out of court till he died now even those persecutors are singing his praise. Not that they have a suitable candidate to replace him

This was also a battle between the media and music. Chris proved that Music has more power than media. The entire media could destroy Chris like they hoped. They where so desperate that they turned on themselves, FOX against NBC, CNN against BET lol to the point that some of them began following chris on twitter so that they can attack him i.e Andy Levy(pedophile), Perez(hopeless gay). TMZ, Mediatakeout, Radaronline, Perez, and Gossip Celeb all began to make up stories.

They couldn’t trust their readers to make up they own minds without interference. They stopped representing the people and began to represent themselves but inflicting it on the world as their general consensus opinion=> this was clearly a lie as proven on Todays Show and all the millions of rating Breezy’s appearance gives network that have him.

Usher would seriously regret not keeping him close instead of Trey Songz, Neyo, the other one. GQ magazine and all those silly magazines that declined him when he was down can not approach him now that he is at the top. bEYONCE can’t rule the world now that Chris is back, Jay Z would only be a Hip Hop lil wayne out sold him & Kanye in the 1st week & guy since Beyonce can’t rule the RnB/ Pop/ Hip Hop cos of Chris & Rihanna’s talentless trick will expire and everything would go back to normal.

they can only watch the throne but they all can’t sit in it.

  11. Robert says:

Chris Brown is the premiere male artist of his generation. Each of his albums has been a classic. To those of you who say he only lip syncs, you might want to youtube his AOL sessions performances or performances from his first tour….you have no idea what you are talking about.

For those of you who say it is untrue that Rihanna hit him, you might want to google the police reports, because on at least two occasions she did hit him and he restrained her to prevent her from hitting him. She also lied about that during her interview with Diane Sawyer on national T.V. when she said she never struck him! It is in the police reports by her own admission!! Chris Brown is a genius and has worked tirelessly to redeem himself. He is an intensely driven and prolific artist and a hard worker. He has done loads of volunteer work in D.V. shelters…..I have met children who he has done volunteer work with in my role as a therapist in L.A. He has also done volunteerism with Best Buddies, a charity for mentally handicapped children and adults, as well as participated in many charity sports events.

I am a 43 year old white gay male, the biggest Michael Jackson fan in the world since I was 4 years old, and NO ONE has excited me about music since MJ except for Janet Jackson and Chris Brown. I have been saying all the things this wonderful post reflects about Chris for years and I’m so glad to see people catching up to the fact that Chris is unparalleled as a all around entertainer. Who was going to visit Michael Jackson on the day he passed away? CHRIS BROWN !! Enuff said !!! RIP Mike……I love you. Thank you for passing the torch spiritually to Chris.

  12. Izzie says:

@Nenns what’s blasphemy about it ? U obviously don’t know what blasphemy is if u say it’s the article. Anywho CB is amazing and does deserve a second chance. It’s been two years & people still want to talk about him and Rhianna, its rather annoying & getting boring. I wonder in ten years will they still be on the same subject. So far, we can tell the news & haters have nothing to do with their lives so they go to the past. That’s all the dirt they have on him & the incident on Good Mor America. Who doesn’t have a temper-tantrum lol! He’s young and grew up with domestic volience himself. People aren’t bad, they just make bad choices. He needs guidance & a grown mature male figure…so can the other people who don’t agree just go and Get a life!!

  13. elle says:

Karen, what is disgusting and untrue?

  14. Awateef says:

I love your article. You have said all of the things that I’ve been wanting to say!

  15. Jay says:

Oh, my gosh. I thought I was the only person who felt this way. Thank you for this wonderful article. Everything was directly on point. It’s saddening to see that people let the media brainwash them into thinking a certain way. From the get go, I’ve had my own opinion and view about Chris Brown. I just feel so blessed that I wasn’t alone with these same feelings. Maybe some people can come and read this article with a 100% open mind. They’ll see how very thoughtful and true it really is. I’m rooting for Chris!

  16. Nenns says:

So much blasphemy in this article! I agree Chris Brown is talented but he’s not that talented of a singer or rapper! He lip-syncs all his performances! He cannot touch the hem of Michael Jackson’s trousers! There is nothing wrong with his fervent trying though. He is yet to release an album worthy to be called a classic. He hasn’t done anything close to legendary even before hitting Rihanna! Whether it be critical acclaim, album sales, touring, Grammys etc! These are things that put people in the icon/legend in-the-making batch! He needs to eat some more humble pie and maybe people will be willing to look past his shortcomings. Good luck Chris!!! LOL!!!

  17. angela says:

In my opinion, this is one of the best articles ever written about CB, and I agree with every word of this article. This boy is a legend in the making. Yes, he made a horrible mistake, but who, at that age, hasn’t? Think back to your teenage years. Did you not make mistakes? I made plenty of them. First and foremost, people kept capitalizing on CB hitting Rihanna, but not once did the media focus on women hitting men. Not once! This whole situation was one sided and it should have served as a podium for young men and women alike, stressing that violence of any kind, including women hitting men, is not acceptable, point blank, period!. What Chris Brown did was wrong,it was dead wrong, and I am not excusing his behavior. I just believe in redemption.

We all make mistakes, but the one thing we all must do is to learn from our mistakes and move forward. If people define themselves by the mistakes they make, then we would not have any successful people at all, no congressmen, no artists, no nothing, because they would have all gotten “stuck in the moment”, and that is what the media wanted CB to do,(to define himself by that incident) but he didn’t. If you ask me, (and I mean this from the bottom of my heart) if people allow themselves to open their minds and get beyond that incident, they could actually learn something from him.

Here you have a young man who made a monumental mistake, one who was blackballed from the industry, left for dead so to speak, kicked under the bus, scrutinized negatively by the media, and projected to never be anything again. People had lost hope in him, had given up on him, and stopped believing in him, BUT, He did not stop believing in himself. He never gave up hope in himself. He did not give up on himself even when all others gave up on him. He rose above The lesson to be learned by others: NEVER GIVE UP ON YOURSELF, EVEN WHEN OTHERS GIVE UP ON YOU. CB took the high road, because he could have spoken negatively about her and put it all out there. He could have made her look just as bad as she made him look, and he still has that option, but he choose not to. That man has paid a dear price for the mistake that he has made.

It is time that we, as a people, allow that man to redeem himself, and get on with his life. He is headed for greatness, whether you like it or not.

  18. matty smith says:

i think this is one of the fairest and best articles ive read. chris brown has the most talent ive seen from a artist since michael. i truly believe this kid will go down in history as one of the greatest entertainers of all time

  19. SandeePB says:

This article is written by a true human being who understands no one is better than the other so lets accept the good in all of us and move on. Chris Brown means alot to me because he’s learning as he’s growing and he’s doing one hell of a great freaking job. I enjoy the artist and human being that he is 🙂 Hating is bad especially on someone who has proved themselves.

  20. Elizabeth says:

I love this Article now i can see that not everyone is vain afterall.I really dislike the media, they like to capilaize on every black person’s mistakes the great ones for that matter, they are hypocrites.See all they said about michael Jackson but the pretenders started singing his praises after his death.Their is nothing anyone can do, chris brown is destined to be great and not even the media can stop him.Yes he made a great mistake but he has paid for it so all the critics should remove the logs in their eyes before the remove the ant in somone else’s eyes.

  21. Typical says:

Its true, ppl should stop throwing what happened in his face. Evry interview he gets, they ask about it. Even with the Good Morning America interview, it was suppose to be about his new album but all that woman were asking was about that incident that happened in the past

  22. JAY says:

BEST Article i have Ever READ !!!

This article was on point! I’m rooting for this young man.

  25. King Makers says:

Dear Author, this article brought a smile back to my face. In 2009 when the incident happened, I didn’t believe because it was never in Chris Brown’s character; its like saying Justin Bieber did such a thing & just like some of the public, i was more curious as to what triggered the incident than what the incident was. I expected the media to exerggerate for attention so I ignored their usual hypocrisy. Chris Brown didn’t give much away about the incident; it was always apologies that kept coming from that young man. In all his interviews i wished he could air his side of the story, but he kept saying he had too much respect for Rihanna that he can’t share details of the incident but he is very sorry for his actions and take full responsibilities.

The opposite was the case when it came to Rihanna, she told the public what they already expected to her; that she was in an abusive relationship. I listened closely for her to narrate what happened that night, but it seem like she beens deliberately instructed to concealed her part in the incident and repeatedly emphasis Brown’s actions. At 2010, when the antagonism, victimisation and blackmail reached its peak, I expect Chris to break and confess his side of the story yet instead he still kept it private. I listened to his songs, his interviews and youtube clips, it was all apologies.

Thankfully with a supernatural fan base called teambreezy, his career return in full force however, one thing that I can take from the Chris’s life since 2009, is that he has matured with in his craft and his understanding of life. Media attempted serveral times to derail him and distroy his career, many even predicted his career was over but here he is today right at the top of the cone. Supiciously Chris was every insecure person on the planet’s excuse to be racist, hypocritical, and hateful. The media had a different score to settle with Chris and it had nothing to do with Rihanna, but the fact that he returned to the top without their help is really worrying a lot of journalist especially the ones that openly declared their hate for Chris.

They claim he wasn’t sincere enough and he was a woman beater BUT none of them could explain how they arrived at that conclusion most especially when there has only been one incident of such nature and that his apologies was directed to the victim and the victim has accepted it. It was not Rihanna Vs Brown, it was the Media Vs Brown. Yes alot of other failed kids made attempt to gain some fame off him but failed yet again. Whatever really happened in that car has not been revealed but there is no denying in the fact that, Chris is arguably one of the most talented, if not the most talented entertainer on the planet since Michael Jackson as we can all see at the VMAs.

Question is, why does the media think they can destroy such a person? why can’t people just let go or mind their business? this hatred is a disease the world is unfortunately suffering from. This is why wars will never finish on this planet because people don’t know how to forgive and love, its always about retaliation and revenge. People are comfortable to gloat and gossip on others weakness, imperfections and failures as long as their remain hidden. I am just glad that a few bloggers are slowly beginning to look in the mirror instead of pointing fingers. Its not about giving chances infact who are we to think that we have the authority to allocate blame or chances? We should encaurage young kids who mess up like Chris did, along the right path and help them get back on track.

If someone is making an effort to get better, why are we trying to derail them and pull them back? Do we enjoy people failing? or whats so exciting about another man’s failure? over the years our society has gradually become sacarstic and sadistic and what entertains us is others misery and pain.

  27. laura says:

Some of your points i dont agree but i believe Chris will be a legend but i hope ppl would stop reminding him his mistake everyday ..he paid his duties & trying to be a better person still young how can one person take when every ignorant media associate to judge & wanna break his career..

  28. aGirl says:

The article didn’t say every black person is angry, he said many… which is true, many people in general are angry and ready to jump to conclusions. Sound familiar?

  29. Karen says:

“There are many African-American males and females who are angry with life. It can attribute to many different causes. In reports pertaining to Chris Brown’s break-up with Rihanna, it was also acknowledged that she hit him too.”

    Disgusting and untrue.

“Chris Brown pushed the envelope and sang/danced to one of the best songs I have heard in the 21st century”

lol since when do we have stans writing articles on here?

I love this article and I love that you were brave enough to speak out in favor of Chris Brown, something a lot of people are afraid to do. I agree with you, he has a long road ahead of him and I am excited to see what he does with that. His mistakes are his own and I don’t think it’s right for the media to focus on the mistakes instead of the fact that he’s not repeated them. More power to Chris Brown and to yourself!

  31. Minako says:

What do you mean every black person is angry? After reading that line, i didnt bother to read the rest. Smh (stereotype bull)
