Will GOP Candidates Herman Cain, Allen West, or Ron Paul Put America back to work…

(ThyBlackMan.com) Do you remember the highway signs that bragged about stimulus money being used to put America to work through “recovery and reinvestment“?

Thousands of contractors who got stimulus money to do such things as build roads and provide social services owe more than $750 million in back taxes, a federal investigation has found,” says an article written by Jennifer Liberto for CNN Money.

The article goes on to say, “More than $24 billion in stimulus money went to some 3,700 contractors who still owe the federal government taxes, according to the report released Tuesday by the General Accountability Office, Congress’ watchdog agency.”

So much for that charade.  Billions of dollars paid out to contractors to rebuild roads; few if any Black contractors; and now we see that many of  them cheated the government out of payroll and corporate income taxes.

People suffer

Elderly people on Social Security have gone two years without receiving a cost of living increase; unemployment is off the charts – especially for Black people, which is more than 16 percent now.  Losses in housing values have robbed the so-called middle class of much of its wealth; the oil barons are robbing the people blind and lying to Congress while receiving record profits, testifying that they are not “out of touch” with us every day common folks and our economic plight. What a joke, a scam, a sham, a shame!

While the politicians play their games, pontificating on the evils and virtues of oil subsidies, this nation is drowning in a sea of debt, which causes most of us to question if and how we will be saved.

As for those subsidies, here’s a solution.  The boys and girls in Washington could send each adult driver an equal portion of the subsidy and we could spend it on gasoline.  That way, our pain at the pump would be eased and the oil companies would get their subsidy money anyway.

That makes too much sense, doesn’t it?  The government’s answer is to ‘investigate’ high gasoline prices, and Exxon’s answer is to produce an “I feel your pain” TV commercial to educate us on oil sands in Canada.

Everybody paid but us

Wall Street firms that are “too big to fail” have gotten paid; banks that intentionally made bad mortgage deals got their money; healthcare and insurance companies got their money; and selected contractors got their money, through highway work and two wars, one of which we did not need and the other of which should be stopped immediately now that Osama bin Laden is dead.  All of this prosperity for a selected few, gained by keeping the majority in abject poverty.

Here is the worst part of this country’s legacy of avarice.  Juxtaposed against soldiers needlessly dying in Iraq and Afghanistan and coming home to poverty is the hypocrisy displayed by so-called patriotic politicians who are the first to say we should “honor” our service men and women.  They pin medals on them, attend homecoming parades for them, and make tear-jerking speeches at their gravesites – but they pay them meager wages for their service.

Consider this idea

Pay soldiers at least as much as the politicians who sit in their cushy office suites “playing war” games.  That way, the patriotic rhetoric and that condescending statement, “Thank you for your service to our country,” will really mean something.

Soldiers serve the country; greedy politicians and corporate execs serve mammon.

As some of us know, serving “mammon” is a dangerous thing; read Matthew 6:24.

Today, in our “get all the mammon you can get” by any means necessary, it’s sad to see the examples being laid before our children.

How much longer?

Corporate moguls sit before Congress with their condescending responses to questions. Lying and cheating are on display by politicians and lobbyists who are only interested in grabbing as much cash as they can. Celebrities and athletes flaunt material things. All of this happens with a backdrop of poverty, natural disasters, and economic inequity and will surely prove to be the demise of our society.

Too many people in this country are unwilling to take a real stand against the corruption and greed we see every day.  And too many people in this country are willing to serve mammon instead of God.  Considering that reality, how long do you think this society of ours will last?

Regarding Ron Paul’s currency scam in the late 90’s. This is not a lie. I held Mr. Paul’s documents in my hand, read them, and distinctly recall laughing and wondering if anyone would really send him $40 for his “report.” I know nothing about a Mr. West or someone he is said to have tortured (yikes, you people can really get convoluted). I only know what I see with my own eyes. The best way to pursue this is to pin Mr. Paul down and give him the chance to deny it and if he does, that could prove to be a smoking gun should positive proof subsequently turn up, but my guess is he’s a little too slick to take the bait, and a fringe character at that, so digging into his past may be of little interest to the media.

I’m not young and I’m not black, but I did get my start in the 1960 lunch counter sit-ins. I have some info about Ron Paul that I can’t believe why investigative reporters haven’t jumped on it.

Remember in the late 90’s when our paper money was redesigned to make it harder to counterfeit? Ron Paul took advantage of that by sending out mailings suggesting that the old currency would soon be worthless, but there was a way to avoid this disaster and somehow thrive. All you had to do was send Ron Paul $40 for info on how to escape this potential tragedy. I recall one or more money pitches prior to this one, but I remember no details except his stuff was always sent out on fonts making it look like it was typed.

    @ Peanut

You’re using old information, old lies that were told by West, lies that were later proven to be lies!

For better information, read this article: http://blogs.browardpalmbeach.com/pulp/2010/03/allen_west_military_career_abuse_iraqi_detainee.php

West lied about the information he gained from the tortured man, and West lied about saving lives with that information, then — later — after dust had settled — after being penalized — after getting off easy — West himself admitted that he [West] lied.

The information West gained from the tortured man, it proved to be 100% useless. The man West tortured was not a terrorist, but he was innocent. The tortured man didn’t want to be tortured, so he lied to make West stop torturing him.

And, even if the tortured man were a terrorist (he wasn’t), West still wasn’t justified: the torture was still an inhumane act and 100% criminal; at the time, West didn’t know whether the man was a terrorist or not, so he went off the reservation, to chase his own phantoms, something only a *headcase* or *pack of headcases* might do.

What’s more, who in their right mind calls a torturer a Christian? Do the West supporters actually believe Jesus would approve of torture? Would Christ believe torture is honorable? Would Christ join the military and wage neverending wars? Would Christ drop hellfire missiles, from unmanned drones, over populated cities? Would Christ litter cities with Depleted Uranium?

    Come to your senses, people!

@ Ima Yahnitarian — He became a GOP candidate at the same time Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, Jim DeMint, John Bolton and countless others became candidates. Besides, he is the people’s choice!

  5. Peanut says:

@ Nick — The terrorist in question had infiltrated the Iraqi Police Force and while working with our troops he was feeding his terrorist affiliates with information on the plans and whereabouts of our troops. The base and our troops were consistantly being ambushed and hit with IEDs.

LTC Allen West did the right thing to save the lives of the men under his authority. He fired his weapon next to the terrorist’s head. The terrorist spilled his guts, the imminent attack was thwarted and there were no further attacks on that base as long as LTC West was the commander.

No widdle biddy terrorist pos was hurt or tortured during this action by LTC West and countless lives of American troops were saved.

Congressman LTC Allen West for President 2012 … if not sooner!

  6. Nick says:

    Correction…

Obama isn’t “nobel”, he isn’t noble, and he isn’t peaceful.

  7. Nick says:

HE TORTURED A CIVILIAN — A BOUND CIVILIAN.

IT WAS INHUMANE, PSYCHOTIC, AND CRIMINAL.

Getting off easy doesn’t change the fact he’s a war criminal.

Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, does that make him nobel? NO!!!

The craziness of people like you amaze me; you would dare call Ron Paul a headcase, but you wouldn’t think twice before calling a psychotic war criminal an honorable man??? Get real!

  8. Carol Hicks says:

@ Nick, sir I suggest you verify your comments before you post them. Rep. Allen West retired from the army with honor. He then took part in a mission with the USMC. He is an honorable man. Every single Tuesday, without fail, I get an email from Allen. In this email he tells me everything he did during the previous week.

I truly believe that Allen West is a gift, he is the one that would lead us out of this horrible mess our government , country, etc. is in. I trust him with my grandchildrens future.

Please come join us at allenwestnation.com, Allen knows what we want. He is a strong christian, he and his family are praying about it. I’m praying that god will tell him that we are right…he is the one!

@ Joe, Ron paul is a head case. Don’t take my word for it, research him on the web…Man should be wearing a tin foil hat. Romney is full of BS…

YOU know, our wonderful country is in deep trouble. The person we put in office via the coming elections will also determine whether or not we survive.
We have no room for mistakes, what if’s, or maybe…

  9. Nick says:

Allen West is a war criminal, so how could he possibly be a dream come true?

  10. joe says:

Ron Paul embodies Liberty. All my brothers should check him out.

  11. Charlie says:

Ron Paul is the whitest man I’ve ever seen, but I’ll be damned if I’m not voting for him! We need a real reset on our monetary system, foreign policy, civil liberties, drug war, all of it! Elect the candidate of peace and freedom! Elect Ron Paul 2012!

  12. Ima Yahnitarian says:

Ummm … Excuse me? Although it would be a dream come true, Allen West became a GOP candidate when?
