GOP Off and Running…

(ThyBlackMan.com) The field of Republican candidates seeking their party’s presidential nomination, and the right to take on President Obama in November 2012, is already taking a turn for the bizarre. As each hopeful tries to move further to the right than the other, and claim to be the legitimate standard-bearer of conservative ideals, the rhetoric is already sounding worn. From the obtuse Donald Trump to the new and improved Newt Gingrich, with former mistress now wife in tow, the Republican Party is beginning to resemble a not to funny caricature of a not too funny reality. If this were the Apollo Theater, these wannabe nominees would have been run off the stage already.

It’s as if the debacle of 2008 had not taken place and we did not witness the implosion of the McCain-Palin ticket; a train wreck that left us with a robotic  former Alaskan governor with an off switch that seemingly does not work.  Worse, it spawned a mutant strain in the form of the Tea Party, a group of supposed “Patriots” invested in their colonial fantasy of an idyllic America where the states supersede federal authority, a gun is as convenient as a stick of gum, the survival of the fittest is the ruling principle, and Blacks and other racial minorities know their place. This toxic brew has created the Godzilla of political candidates, Donald Trump, hulking over the electorate like the monster in the harbor prepared to inflict major damage upon Tokyo. The whole lot of Republican candidates looks like rejects from Trump’s reality television show, “The Apprentice.”

This past week was really one for the books with Gingrich, the former Speaker of the House who once had a tantrum because he was asked to use the rear exit to depart Air Force One, attempting to show how hip a white haired, near senior citizen white male can be by declaring his candidacy on the cool corner of the Internet called Twitter. Next, Mitt Romney, the privileged Republican son of a moderate blue-collar Republican governor, came out to declare health care reform evil despite pushing an eerily similar plan when he was governor of Massachusetts, and signed into law with the late Senator Edward Kennedy, champion for national health care, at his side. His efforts to bring affordable health care to the people of Massachusetts had been a point of pride for Romney but now he backtracks, arguing that what’s good for his state is not good for the nation. Now it seems Romney thinks health care reform is a matter solely for states to take up and not the “socialized” prescription that the Republican script calls for all candidates to denounce.

As if this sideshow were not enough, we have the likes of Rep. Michele Bachmann, who makes up American history as she goes along, Rep. Ron Paul, the anti-government candidate who is such a libertarian he had to serve in a government position to prove it, former Senator Rick “Why Am I Doing This” Santorum and the party’s own contribution to racial quotas, former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain. There is enough material here to keep Saturday Night Live buzzing for months. And you thought Ross Perot was entertaining?

It would all be funny except for the fact that there is a strain of the electorate that is hell bent on knocking President Obama out of office. Despite, or perhaps because of, one of the most engaged first terms of a President in recent memory, the reelection of this President is far from a sure thing. Simmering below the surface of much discontent with President Obama is anger rooted in racism. It’s a point not even worth debating at this juncture. It is what it is. Knowing this though, the White House must make headway on the economic recovery and clarify its principles for the deployment of U.S. troops overseas. With the tab running for two major conflicts, there has been little left in the government’s coffers for this President to implement his agenda. And with the Fox News Channel ready to give the GOP field an open mic, the path to reelection is far more treacherous for President Obama than has been the case with previous White House incumbents.

This is not to suggest that the President does not still have some work to do. I’m still hopeful an economic recovery means Black people recover too, and that the President will expedite the end of our engagements in Iraq and Afghanistan; bringing our troops home and ending the run on our treasury. Still, from what I see of the GOP field thus far, the Republican Party is simply rolling the dice and hoping to come up a winner.

You can go on-line and read speeches Ron Paul has given before congress for 20 years. You may be surprised how naive he isn’t. He continues to be re-elected in Texas because people their know more about him than the general public is willing to learn. Major media was influential in getting majority support for Hitler, Castro, and Stalin, be careful when you let them bias your views before you are objectively informed.

This is the funniest article I have read. Ron paul= anti Government? That is hilarious, or just plain ignorant. Ron Paul has consistently advocated for a CONSTITUTIONAL Government for over 30 years.

Whoever the coward is who wrote this, because of course they did not put their name to it, is just a thief who likes to steal from others and support murder and killings of innocents over seas and loves to inflate the currency so people get poorer.

Lets state the truth. Everything The President is for, the other party is against. Anything that the other Party is for and the President agrees, then the Party is against. The President has accomplished must of his agenda in the first 2 years. Of course he did not get all he wanted. Yes, the other Parties are having a hard time finding a suitable candidate that is a potential leader and will put some excitement into the Presidential Race. They all seem to be caring baggage. For example the Government found Osama, and major Sunday Talk Shows had a majority of Republicans as if The President was not involved and the Former President was instrumental in getting Osama.

  6. Devknob says:

Ron Paul isnt Anti-government. You propaganda pushing morons fail at everything you do. We won’t allow it, Ron Paul is not an anarchist, he believes in sensible government rather than the one Bill Clinton, George Bush and Barrack Obama all have been complicit with. Why don’t you get informed before writing your stupid little articles for a change?

  7. Tim Tucker says:

Wow! What a bunch of clowns! The candidates and you people making dumb, uneducated comments.

  8. Dave-O says:

“Rep. Ron Paul, the anti-government candidate” correction Rep. Ron Paul, the peoples-government candidate.

  9. Nic fortr says:

Last I checked the stats, black men and women seem to disproportionately put into prison for nonviolent drug offenses, stacking up their criminal records and fueling a future of crime and possible violence. Ron Paul has clearly stated that he would personally grant pardons for Anyone in prison for non violent drug offenses, drastically benefitting the inner city populations and saving lives. Sounds like a smart move to me. Ron Paul 2012

Hey how about the Tom Coburn and John Ensign presidential ticket, it represents what the GOP is, rather than what they profess to be. But I guess it would be like the Newt Gingrich and Donald Trump presidential ticket, right?

Liberty requires people to take responsibility for themselves. The government only takes, it gives nothing. Any type of welfair is slavery. Freedom is scary for slaves to the system, so they defend their comfortable dependence. Its a sickness called apathy.
And the RonPaul re-love-ution can cure it.

There is no left right paradigm.
    It is good vs evil.
The left wing is evil and satanic. And both parties, R & D are satanists.
Anyone really worried will depart BOTH parties and start over. Obama sucks, Bush sucked, Clinton sucked, Bush 41 sucked, even Reagan gave us 6 million illegals.

  13. SickNTired says:

    Oh, I forgot to add,
that’s Ron Paul I spoke of in my last post
    (should there be any doubt)

  14. SickNTired says:

Don’t you people realize that the left/right paradigm is meant to keep us fighting amongst ourselves, while all along, the rich get richer, the poor get poorer, the corporations run America and our nation collapses?
The D wants to spend money on the welfare state.
The R wants to spend money on the warfare state.
We have a man who threatens both of them.
What’s wrong with personal liberty and responsibility?

You should really look into him more. He’s the only candidate worth voting for.

  15. Pamela says:

Lifelong democrat, switching to Republican this year. President Obama has not changed anything.
I will be voting for Ron Paul who WILL bring our troops home and knows how to get the economy back on track. Its all about personal responsibility, freedom for all and an end to government handouts.

  16. Tanner says:

I agree with Ant. I also voted for Obama and being a Liberal thought he was going to bring our troops home and do something different with approach to federal debt. He has only made it worse and I am sick of it. Ron Paul has my vote to save America and get us back on track.

  17. Ant says:

Ron Paul 2012. I love how you use the baseless argument of racism to this day. I know your not accusing me of being racist. As an original supporter of Obama, I can honestly say I disagree with everything he’s done since being elected. A continuation of George Bush with a different face doesn’t cut it for me, sorry.

  18. Donna says:

Governor Mike Huckabee is good government, good government for everyone, Democrat, Republican, and Independent.

“I have been a Democrat my entire life, but I will not support the Democratic Party at the cost of democracy.”

    from http://www.lynettelong.com/caucusfraud/

Democrats want to “spread the wealth” to their unions, to their buddies who bring “development” to the city, to their organizations who provide “services” to the poor, and to the businesses who hire illegal immigrants who are taking jobs from American citizens who are poor.

The “affordable” housing that Democrats paid ACORN hundreds of millions of dollars to promote to poor people included interest only and variable rate loans that are easier to default on and wreck your credit; not the stable fixed rate 30 yr and 15 yr mortgages that most middle class borrowers use.

The public schools that Democrats push onto poor people graduate only half of the kids in Chicago and in Baltimore only 66% of the kids who want to graduate can pass 10th grade level tests in 12th grade. Even the most basic minimum standard for teachers and principals cannot be enforced due to pressure from the Democrat’s union leadership supporters. Children in public schools go through a kind of russian roulette education, where politized curriculum and holes in teacher effectiveness, greatly diminish the educational potential of many children.

I’ve heard that 75% of African American males drop out of school in Baltimore City. They compete with illegal immigrants for jobs in Maryland, 1 of the 4 states that allow illegal immigrants to obtain drivers licenses.

In Chicago, the first Walmart that finally opened in 2006 after several years of intense union opposition, received 15,850 applications for 450 jobs.

No, Democrats don’t like poor people. They use poor people like a commodity to enrich their unions, enrich their buddies who bring “development” to the city, enrich their organizations who provide “services” to the poor, and enrich the businesses that save money and get around the Democrat’s excessive regulation of the work place by hiring illegal immigrants.

If poor people knew how much money is supposedly spent on their behalf and NEVER reaches them, I believe they wouldn’t vote for Democrats for a generation.

  19. DaWhat says:

Well this is a weird article. It amazes me that black folk are so aligned with big wasteful federal government programs. How is that working out for the black community with your Dept of Education that is producing the most uneducated kids in the world, the war on drugs which throws millions of black youth into prison for non-violent offenses, the welfare state which breeds a culture of dependency.. Big government has failed the black community over and over again and yet you keep coming back for more.

I agree with the article that the majority of the Repug lineup are monsters but Ron Paul has a record of standing up for his principles of protecting individual liberty and has fought a decades long crusade against all of the corruption and failed big government programs that have failed America.

For example, when he talks about the Federal Reserve it’s not some kooky academic or esoteric issue. It is at the heart of America’s giant wealth gap and massive deficit. We’re talking about a secretive private cartel of banks that can print money at will. Any candidate not talking about the Fed is an enemy of the people and an advocate of debt slavery.

  20. Chris says:

Seems like fallacious statements and fear mongering are the choice arguments used on this site? Lol and I agree with Tim, unless you think its contradictory to be libertarian and serve in government (which is a large mistake in reason if you do) all you really did was complement Dr. Ron Paul.

  21. Tim says:

Staff…haha I wouldn’t put my name on this trash piece either. I do like that the only bad thing you can say about Ron Paul is that he is a fan of liberty(freedom).
