(ThyBlackMan.com) Christian man? What in the world is that? Sometimes it can be confusing what God expects of men in this often confusing world. Sometimes the message of what a Christian man is may be lost even in the church. Let’s look at some simple attributes of a Christian man.

1. The first step is ensuring that you life is hidden in Christ. In other words, have you asked Jesus Christ to be the Lord over your life. It’s simple. Just determine if you believe that Jesus died for your sins and the sins of  mankind. Ask yourself, was His dying on the cross and the shedding of His blood powerful enough to redeem you back to God? Ask yourself, if you really believe that God raised Jesus from the dead? If you can sincerely say yes to those questions, then you have eternal life, salvation through Christ.

2. Second, now that you are saved what next? You need to find a church home whereby you can be taught how to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. A disciple is one that follows the teachings and instructions of another with discipline. You need a pastor no question about it. Why don’t you ask your new savior to show you without a doubt the place where you need to go and worship.

3. Third, there are some commitments to being a Christian man. Many of these commitments will take some time accomplishing:

a. Commit to attending a bible based and Christ centered church.
b. Commit to loving Christ more than you love yourself.
c. Commit to avoiding habits and practices that are obviously wrong.
d. Commit to prayer.
e. Commit to reading the word of God.
f. Commit to worshiping the one and true living God.

4. I know there are so many commitments. Guess what? Commitments are generally a challenge for most of us men. However, God is willing to work with each of us to get where he wants us to be. As you attend you church, there will be teachings about many of the commitments listed above. Study to show yourself approved. Whatever you learn commit to doing it with everything within you.

I know that there are probably issues in your life that you are ashamed of and may continue to struggle with as a man. As you attend your church, ask the Lord to show you a brother that you can trust, who is a mature Christian, so that you can confide in and seek help in getting over the struggles and challenges. This is a process. Seeking another brother for friendship is a process that is challenging for most men in its self. Guess what? you can do it.
